UCSD Class of 2022

For people saying they usually release on Fridays, last few years they released on Monday and Tuesday and Thursdays if u check the previous threads. So don’t rule out today.

Don’t ask the AO people by calling! They are required to say what they were told to say (March 20 or whatever). They are NOT the official AO that decides when to release notifications! UCR and UCD reps all said “we will release next week,” but on that same day at 3-4pm, decisions came out.

They are required to say a certain date and not the real dates because they don’t want their servers to crash. IMO

@orionary That makes sense. Hopefully the results come out this week then!

Today’s decision day right?

@orionary @jayjay7737 This is what someone from UCLA said that lends itself to that topic:
“There are two main reasons why UCLA does not confirm decision dates.
If UCLA said ‘On March 16th we will release decisions at 5pm’

  1. If decisions were for some reason postponed then you have 120k very upset freshman applicants and their families. UCLA will get so many phone calls and emails regarding it.
  2. Having a specific date means more than likely everyone will check at the same time. The “surprise” release already results in the servers crashing. Imagine if everyone knew exactly what time decisions would come out, then it would be chaotic on the servers.”

@collegedreamer167 It’s all speculation, at this point :frowning: But who knows, right?

@stevensonjj0 That’s true!

@stevensonjj0 I agree! I’m sorta positive about this too, but I believe even the alumni volunteers don’t even know either! The only thing everyone can do is speculate WHEN it will come out. All UCs representatives don’t even know for themselves!

Since previous years march 10 was on a weekday and this year march 10 was a Saturday. Does is make sense to say the date is today since they don’t release on a weekend and today is the first weekday after march 10?

@party123 that makes sense. We can expect decisions today.

@party123 Lets think about it. UCR was supposed to release their decision on MARCH 1, and MARCH 1 was Thurs/friday? But since their portal failed and had to shut it down temporarily (and said they would release them NEXT WEEK), but instead they released it the following Monday. So, UCSD may do the same and release it today because they should’ve done it on march 10-11, but those were the weekends.

so can we expect that decisions will come out today noon? or maybe 3 pm?

I’d say anywhere between noon and 7

Great, now it’s 12:51 am in my timezone and I gotta catch some sleep. Hopefully I’ll wake up tomorrow to a pleasant surprise!

I would say 5 p.m if it comes out today. The only reason that might make me think it’s not today is because of the whole campaign calling thing. If they haven’t started that then how could they already release decisions?

@collegedreamer167 I’m agreeing with you. In the past two years, the calling campaign always began before decisions were released. Reddit posts that state that people have called the AOs and how they say “around the 20th” follow up with the calling campaign schedule that I have been given.

The only thing that would make me say it will release this Friday, or even this week, is if AOs call students themselves throughout the week. No calls have gone out yet as of this time (they call in the evenings).

Why can’t they do the calling campaign after decisions are released just to congratulate them? (Sorry I don’t know what the calling campaign is about, but I feel it’s blocking the free flow of regular email/portal decisions).

@orionary The calling campaign is like a special early admit campaign for Regents, URMs, and first gen students where they get invited to an overnight stay program. It’s akin to UCSB’s reception, except in phone form.

For sure admission decisions are not coming today. When they come my school gets them first, in person before 10:36 am.
