Hello. I’m applying out of state and don’t know much about the college system in California. I know I want to be an Engineering major, but I don’t know what colleges would best fit that major. I have heard that Warren is a good place, but what about the other colleges? What colleges are fit for engineering?
There is no specific College for Engineers. You need to look at the GE requirements to see which would be the easiest to fulfill with your major requirements and also any AP/IB or DE credit you have completed in HS.
Muir is suppose to be the most flexible for GE’s and I have heard good things about Warren.
Have you tried this link to compare? http://provost.ucsd.edu/colleges/compare.html
Warren is the best for engineers GE wise. This is because as an engineer in Warren you have less GE’s than non-engineering majors.
However, you can be in any college and major in engineering. From what i’ve heard, Revelle and ERC are the worst for engineering majors because you have to take alot of classes outside of your major. In these colleges, depending upon the AP/IB credit people have, they struggle to graduate in 4 years.
Like Gumbymom said, Muir is pretty good with GE’s for any major. I haven’t heard Marshall or Sixth colleges being bad GE wise for engineers.
