Sorry if this is a super repetitive thread, but I was hoping to get some advice on how to rank the six UCSD colleges on my UC application.

I plan on majoring in either History, Political Science, Communications, or something similarly non-math/science orientated, so I'm looking for the college that would have the least number math/science GEs.

Since I like history a lot, I was thinking about putting ERC as one of my top choices, but I don't want to waste a lot of time and energy doing six quarters of MMW when I could be doing easier GEs in one of the other colleges. I'm thinking about double majoring in History and Poli Sci (or maybe Communications), and I want to graduate in four years, so I don't want to waste time/credits making life harder for myself.

I've been doing a lot of research about the different GE requirements for all six colleges, but I'm still really confused.

I'm going to admit that housing-wise, ERC is probably the best. But Muir comes out top when it comes down to GEs.
Having the option to choose doesn't make it any less rigorous. You just have the choice of what you want to load up on. On the same hand, you have the choice of taking as few as you like (within the rules).

If you're like me and GEs are much more important than dinky housing options, just go with Muir. GE take you through all 4 years. Housing, only one or two; you get booted out of the dorms/apartments by your 3rd year.

Ooh, so you're at Muir right now syneria? How would you rate the dorms?

I've only seen them from the outside and I've heard some people mention how the insides (especially the bathrooms!) are horrible, so I would love to hear your opinion.

It is just another one of those medicine related shows like ER or Scrubs.

Americans are hella retarded with their obsession with the medical profession, and it is sad because we know it is not because of the nature of the job, as much as it is because of the social status and salary that doctors tend to have in America.

In most parts of the world, doctors are just working class people, similar to teachers, and I respect those doctors a lot more than I would respect any American doctor who probably went into it so he could get rich.

i love muir dorms!!! im in a triple but its like huge!!! i love it!! and the bathrooms are ok... but if the cleaning lady doesnt come then it gets a little messy... lol.... but then again i live in tioga....so it was fixed up over the summer......

and it really doenst matter since you can major in anything in all the colleges... but muir is cool!!! =) we have the largest freshmen class this year!

Thanks for the enlightenment, subjecttochange. Let me know when the world lightens up for you.
I don't really care about the medical side of Grey's Anatomy. I know it's stupid.
I watch it for Mr. McDreamy. (:

For the record, I was inspired onto my veterinarian (not medical) goal when I was in Korea, where being a vet is NOT good or glamorous; it's pretty much looked down upon there. Don't know about the other kids, but I'm definitely not going into vet for the salary or status. :|
