Hi,
Got into UCSD Computer Engineering and was just wondering how good the program was.
Furthermore, also wondering how UCSD CE stands out in comparison to similar colleges, like UCLA, etc.
Thanks!

UCSD is pretty well known for computer engineering, with some renowned faculty and great research opportunities. Its ECE department is on par with UCLA’s.
I’ve been to UCSD a couple of months back but had a really hard time leaning anything useful about their engineering program. They seemed really vague, but this is probably because it was a general tour (there were no tours for engineering).
How are the research opportunities? When do undergrads get access to these opportunities at the earliest? Access to major internships like @ Google/Apple/Amazon/FB/etc.? Large classrooms or small? Taught mostly by TAs (like Cal) or real professors (for the lower division courses)? Are the engineering facilities good?
Thanks!
Research and internships aren’t easy to come by. You need to seek them out. Large classrooms taught by full professors combined with small discussion sections with graduate students. Facilities good. Students are happy.
How is the caliber of the program - typical course load of a CE student?
How is UCSD compared to Georgia Tech & UT Austin? Internship opportunities compared among these schools?
Would really appreciate any help/responses!
Also, not that I give too much preference to this, how much of a name does UC San Diego carry? Prestige? Reputation around the US and specifically in the Silicon Valley?
Thanks!
^ Could I get an answer to the previous question? Thanks again!
UCSD CE is in a better location than UT Austin and GT. It’s surrounded by industries.
