Is it true that we can only tag to one UC now? That is what my counselor said so I wanted to ask you guys to double check. If so, I plan to tag to either UCSD's economics or UCI's business economics. The problem is that I am not sure which school to tag to. My counselor told me that UCSD's econ and UCI's biz econ are about the same ( meaning UCI's biz econ is just as good as UCSD's econ). However, my sister claims that UCI's business programs is superior to UCSD's econ. My gpa satisfies both colleges' tag requirement so tag rejection should not be a problem. Also, is it possible to apply to UCLA and go to UCLA (if i get in) if my tag is accepted by a UC.

sorry if my questions are already answered in this forum. I checked and could not find up-to-date answers for my questions.

Your counselor is correct, you can only TAG one UC.

Do you know if your sister’s claim about UCI’s business program wasn’t directed towards UCI’s Bus Admin(not participating with TAG) as opposed to UCI’s Bus Econ(participates with TAG)?

You can apply to UCLA and TAG to a different UC no problem. When you get in to both then you just choose where you want to go.

What exactly do you want to major in? You do realize that Biz Admin is different compared to normal Econ right? I do not know whether one is more superior than another, but I do know UCI’s Biz Admin is getting more and more impacted. It’s always the second choice of Haas-ers and UCLA’s Biz Econ applicants.

Desirablefps - Right, so that means her comment doesn’t apply to you because you’re talking about the Bus Econ. It seemed like you are more into the business side of things, that’s why I asked. Sparkyboy is right, Bus Admin at UCI is a very impacted and competitive major. If you want to go to business you want to go there. The problem is that they don’t offer that major for TAG(because it is so competitive). Do you know for sure you’ll complete all you pre-reqs necessary to transfer for econ anyway?
UCI’s Bus Econ and UCSD’s Econ both ask for Calc 3 and Linear Algebra. Along with some Comp Sci classes. Bus Admin just asks for Calc 2 max for the other UCs. Just something to point out.

Prerequisites is not a problem for me for either business admin or economics. Since business administration at UCI is super competitive, I will not apply for that major. That means my initial interest still stands, and I’m still not sure which school is better for my listed major. I have asked around since I posted the question, and people generally ranked UCI’s biz econ and UCSD’s econ as about the same.

UCI seems to have a lot of Business minded students. I would imagine that it would be a great school in regards to recruiting, preparation for Business School, Business clubs, etc.
