I applied as a transfer from Florida Gulf Coast University as a science major with a 3.62 GPA. Do you think I have a chance of being accepted even though I don’t go to a california CC???
You never known honestly, but I wouldn’t bet on it if I were you since they always take care of in-state students first. You might be able to get on the waiting list and then get in to be honest. What science major are you? Chem? Physics? It also depends on the major you know. If your major isn’t capped at UCSD you have an ok chance to eventually get in but if it’s capped then I wouldn’t set my hope to high.
I mean heck I have a 3.63 applying as Econ/International Studies-Econ major from one of their top feeder CCs in California and I don’t even know if I ll get in. Let’s just hope for the best. @-)
Could anyone chance me?

AP Chem - 2
AP Lit and Comp - 2
Negative:
- Got my first grade lower than an A- in college with first quarter OChem (C+)
You are pretty much in if you are categorized as a California community college student. I don’t know if one year is enough but if it is then you are pretty much set. You should look up the prerequisite for a ccc student status.
Hi everyone! Congratulations if you’ve been accepted and good luck if you’re still waiting for your admissions decision. Here are my stats if it could be of help to anyone.
College GPA: 4.0
Major GPA: 4.0
Major: History
IGETC/PreReqs: Finished
AA: Set to receive by the end of Spring semester
School: UCSD, school of Thurgood Marshall
EC/Awards: Solid amount, nothing crazy.
Personal statements: Solid as well, nothing crazy (in my opinion).
Schools Applied: CSUF, CSULB, SDSU, UCR, UCSB, UCI, UCSD, UCLA, UCB
Accepted: CSUF, CSULB, UCSD
I received my acceptance pretty early than I expected to; March 11th. Weird because I haven’t heard back from SDSU yet, but already UCSD. Non the less I am extremely grateful and excited.
is the portal down for anyone?
@bettertransfer nope
@futurelawyer88 Congrats on admission! Are you coming from a local community college (SD County)?
@ald6191 I’m from a California CC but not SD county! I’m from Orange County, about 2.5 hrs away.
IS ANYONE AN INTERCAMPUS TRANSFER APPLYING YOUR FRESHMAN YEAR AS A JUNIOR???
Yeah so this waiting 5 more weeks thing…
Agreed. Getting so anxious and impatient. Looks like they’re following last year’s pattern and we won’t be hearing till April 21. 34 days and 1 hour!
lmao I love that your countdown has it down to the hour. I’m double anxious waiting for this of course, as well as a few exam scores D:
Anybody know why some people have already heard back? If you haven’t heard back already, does it mean you have a higher chance of having been denied?
@anxious65 No, not at all. I believe that what they are doing is notifying the students with the highest GPAs first, but just because we have not heard yet does not necessarily mean we are going to be rejected. If you look at last year’s transfer thread, a lot of people who didn’t hear until late April were still accepted.
I also think they are informing people who applied to non impacted majors.
@Orangered123 That’s what I thought/was told but I applied to a non-impacted major and someone was already admitted as my major so I’m skeptical.
I think it’s completely random. It seems like the students that have gotten in do not have stellar GPA’s. They have good grades but not 4.0’s.
Nvm. Thought this was UCSC forum. Still recovering from yesterday.
