@HopeOverFear Hey thanks! May have some questions… I think they changed the housing trick sadly.
What I’m wondering is… So they’ve obviously released a few transfer decisions on the 10th. Do they have all decisions determined and they’re just sitting on them waiting to release late April!? Why torture us like this?! DDD:
UCSD releases they decision in batches. There is no certain days where they will release them but they do it over the course until everyone is notified. The reason behind this is that they do not want to release all 100k decisions and have everyone call them at once and ask questions. They will also most likely release the decision at 5pm on a Friday so there is no way you can call them since the office is closed and it’s the weekends. But UCSD is definitely worth the wait! I am so glad I chose UCSD for computer science over UCLA!
@HopeOverFear Hi! Thanks for helping us out! I have a couple questions and things I’m not sure about. I’m a freshman with a junior standing already attending a UC, I have a 3.9 but I’m applying to a capped major. I’m really worried that I won’t be considered and they’d rather have others fill up the spots. I’ve done all the prerequisites but still. What do you think? Also I’ve emailed ucsd and they said “Transfer admissions decision will continue to go out throughout April.” Does that mean it’ll be rolling starting April first? Thank you again!
@Princetonian9 That really depends on what major is the capped major. I personally don’t know too much about UC to UC transfer but with your high GPA, I would not really worry about not getting in.
@doihaveashot2016 I chose UCSD over UCLA because simply UCSD has a better Computer Science program than UCLA. I am graduating after next quarter and I already have a job lined up in a well known company. In fact, almost everyone I know who are going to be graduating in CS already have a job. Well known companies such as Facebook, Google, Microsoft, Workday, Amazon …etc love recruiting at UCSD. The UCSD job fair is probably one of the best job fair on par with UCB. When it comes to an Engineering major, I would choose UCSD over UCLA just because Jacob School of Engineering is really well known and companies respect it a lot.
Chance me?
Decision: Pending
Major: Electrical Engineering
GPA: 3.94
TAG: None
IGETC: No
Pre-reqs: All required.
Essay: 8/10 hopefully
EC: not many just a couple of clubs
Pending: UCSC, UCI, UCSD, UCD, UCLA, UCB
Accepted: Just UCSB so far. I’m not going to check UCSC anymore.
@Nataliee177 I am a dad, and reading your posts is breaking my heart! 2 of my daughters are college graduates so I have been down this road before.
I have no idea why I was admitted, or why earlier than most. I take it you are not from a San Diego County CC?
Does anyone know if once we get accepted and if there’s a class that’s not needed for that school (but for another school that I don’t plan on going to if I get accepted to ucsd), can we drop it? I mean it’s not required for my major for ucsd so I want to drop it to concentrate on my other classes.
@ald6191 Don’t apologize! So happy for you! I live in Los Angeles
@Sekime Even though it may not be a major-prereq., they can still rescind your acceptance for dropping a class that you reported you would be taking. I would verify with admissions before dropping any classes that you reported you were taking this semester/in the summer.
@sekime will dropping these classes put you below the 60 unit threshold? I am one class short of the major prep for poli sci (not an issue for UCSD), however, I graduated with my AA in December. I am taking Spanish, and a poli sci class this semester that will put me over 60 units. I put in my TAU summer classes that would satisfy major prep at UCLA, and UCR (for majors that do not require them to be completed by Spring 2017). I am dialed in for Berkeley and am waiting on decisions from SDSU, and CSUSM.
@Nataliee177 That’s exactly what I was worried about because they have the right to go with the reason that I reported that class and units. For sure, I’ll make a call to them once I recieve any admission notice. @ald6191 It won’t, I’ll have a total of around 90 units after this semester so I’ll fulfill that 60 unit requirement
Thanks to both of you for helping out and good luck for your results :)!
@ald6191 Yes it is. I’m taking Chem 251 which is required for csu (chem major) but not required at all for the same major at the UCs. If I got into ucsd, I want to drop it so I can focus on my other classes that are required o:
