UCSD Fall 2017 Transfer Thread

@Sekime is it major prep and is it available in the summer? I put classes on my TAU for the summer that would cover UCR, and UCLA. I am fortunate to have been accepted to UCSD, however, they are lenient as it relates to major prep. There was one major req that i could not make happen with my spring schedule so I will take it in the summer.
It is very challenging to balance majors, major prep, and the differences between UC’s and CSU’s, especially not knowing where you will be accepted. What would be worse than putting your eggs in the UC basket and then not being able to attend the school you tailored your academics to!!

@ald6191 Chem 251 is a major prep for only some csus while it’s not for the UCs. I agree, it’s difficult because some require more than the other, it’s hard to organize one’s schedule. If I don’t get into UCSD, I had already tagged UCD so I’ll be okay for dropping the class cause I won’t need it, but just don’t know if they’ll be strict on what I reported I would be taking Spring 2017. I’ll call them when I get admittance and ask then, just hope they send out acceptances before the withdraw deadline #:-S Congrats on your admittance to UCSD though! :smiley:

What’s your GPA and major if you don’t mind me asking?

@ocnative13 who is your question directed to?

@ald6191 I meant to ask @baazingaa

Is admissions rolling starting April first? I know that It’ll probably bring until April 21 but admissions said in April and Mrs sun said rolling in small batches in April?

Got my acceptance package in the mail today :slight_smile: (Got an email a few weeks back so I’ve been expecting it). Spoiler alert, it’s fancy and beautiful. SD really knows how to play the reeling in card haha!! It came with a letter saying congratulations, a certificate of admissions with your name, a transfer day card with some info and a bracelet saying Tritons on it. It’s awesome! I hope you all get one, good luck everybody.

@princetonian9 They actually already started sending out acceptances in March, but yes you are right. It will be rolling in April with the big release date scheduled for April 21.

@futurelawyer88 what college were you placed?

Well only 4 more weeks until April 21st.

@ald6191 Thurgood Marshall!

Pretty confident I won’t get accepted into Berkeley or Ucla lol

I’ve toured ucsd and I really loved it however I’ve heard from multiple people the social life especially if your transferring can be rough. On top of that it’s not the most nurturing environment–classes are cliquey and competitive… can anyone attest to this?

Marshal. You?

@soykatalina 6th

Congrats on your acceptance! Do you understand the differences between the schools? I’m not exactly sure of what to expect

@futurelawyer88 i just got my acceptance package in the mail too, and had the exact same thoughts! I’m really loving how excited UCSD seems to be :wink: berkeley is my dream school but I have heard amazing things from past students about how transfer friendly the school is! The transfer housing alone is making me want to commit

@soykatalina primarily it is the general ed/graduation requirements of each college. Muir only requires a upper division writing class, which makes it easy for transfer students, as their gen ed is satisfied totally with IGETC certification. Each college also has an emphasis which I think is more geared towards students that start as Freshmen.

Did you investigate the different colleges before you ranked them on your UC app?
