Heyo everyone! Just want to drop by and say hi, got accepted early March. Leaning towards UCSD but waiting for UCLA and Berk.
Major: Political Science (Public Law) *might change to International Relations
UC GPA: 3.93
IGETC: Completed
EC: CC years - AOJ/XTE club, Work for an Airline throughout the week, USCG auxiliary
Right now I’m looking into UCSD’s housing situation, quite a hassle…might look into off campus housing. Good Luck yall ~
Hi guys! I’ve been lurking this thread since it began lol as well as 2016’s! The most nerve-wrecking time in my life is this month. Worth a shot to apply! Already got accepted to UCSC but if I can go to San Diego that would be my dream!
Major: Economics (but really leaning towards International Economics instead which was my 2nd choice.)
GPA: 3.57
IGETC: Completed by this spring.
TAG: UC Santa Cruz
EC: Volunteer teacher for my church youth groups, worked two jobs
Could anyone chance me? I feel like my GPA is definitely in the mid-range there veering towards the lower-tier…Super nervous, UCSD is my dream! Last year’s thread I saw a lot of people in the 3.0-3.4 gpa range being offered a spot on the waitlist (whom were Econ majors) and were accepted into their second choice of I.E as well! Hopefully that happens to me.
@catclubb I feel you. I applied as an econ major but my major is a low 3.14, I’m hoping to at least make it into the waitlist because I also saw from 3.0-3.4ish getting waitlisted.
Hey everyone, just wanted to post my stats as well
Major: Psychology (alternate major is probability and statistics) though I do want to double major
UC GPA: 3.93
IGETC: Completed
Major pre-requisites-all done for psych, I just need one class more class for math
EC: GSA, Band and Orchestra since I moved to the US, counseler volunteer, student worker at the college
I really wish I knew about that stars program haha. I’m still waiting for admission. How does my stats look?
Is it true that UCSD admissions only looks at GPA for transfers? In that case, are our essays and extra curriculars completely pointless and ignored?
A UC Santa Cruz (don’t know if he can speak for SD) admissions officer I spoke to told me that UC’s typically bypass essays and EC’s in favor of GPA. It’s pretty much based on GPA and courseload, being that it’s more realistic to gauge adults that way rather than teenagers in high school. UCLA and Berkeley are much more holistic.
That being said Santa Cruz is far more laid back haha.
@itskelvinn UCLA and UCB are the only schools that utilize a holistic review of applications. According to my transfer counselor (MiraCosta College) UCSD does not review personal statements or extracurriculars. I was accepted to UCSD and did not enter any information regarding extracurriculars. I also applied to UCLA and UCB and put some effort into the essays. I am a 51 yo father of 3, self-employed, Marine Corps veteran. I have done quite a bit in life which made it easy to answer the essay prompts.
That’s honestly kinda good cause I didn’t put much effort in my essays. I have a 3.9 gpa but that’s based off of 3 classes since I’m still a freshman… I feel like that’s gonna kill my chances on top of being a first year intercampus transfer :-SS
Did anyone else receive an email from UC San Diego - Outback Adventures today?
@gool456 were you accepted in March or not yet? Cause I didn’t get one, but I haven’t gotten a decision yet
I was accepted in March and did not receive that email
I’m still waiting for my admission decision.
Oh then yeah, it would make sense that we didn’t get it yet
Well… two more weeks! We can do this.
Omg I’m so excited!!! :D/
I’m nervous and can’t stop thinking about it! @-)
any way a mod could move this thread to the UC Transfer section?? less clicks to get to this there
@otoribashi it was in uc transfers section until mod moved it here. I asked to move it back, but got nowhere with him.
Did anyone get an email similar to this yesterday?
