@gabyitzelq1 oh i hadn’t thought about that…first year using personal insight questions.
and at the transfer event i went to last year, they had a whole half hour dedicated to an essays workshop, so for sure it’s not completely irrelevant.
and you’re right, at first i was very nervous thinking i’d get rejected because my GPA felt really low, but then i looked at the UC data link (it’s on one of the pinned threads in this section) and saw that my GPA was actually in the range of admitted applicants, so i think i’ll be fine. it definitely helps to see that GPA range and compare yourself with that versus just blindly thinking a 4.0 is a requirement. it’s not. there is a large range of GPAs that get admitted.
Agree with @HeardWell ! Transfer process is def different than freshman. Been lurking around for awhile, this thread has been useful ! The wait is killing me though. :(( :((
Yup hopefully everybody gets accepted. My essays where terrible as well. Hopefully I get accepted to UCSD, UCLA or Berkeley. But being accepted to UCSB and UCSC already allows me to be less stressed!
@otoribashi of course! don’t worry, I’ve had friends make it into Berkeley and literally say to not stress about the GPA. I hope you make it in!!
@doihaveashot2016 lol I know you meant me and I didn’t mean to sound condescending. A lot of people on here were talking like they knew everything about everything involving admissions and it really irked me. I want people to feel better about their applications, if they start nitpicking at this point they’ll just give themselves unnecessary anxiety. There’s no point in saying things you’re not sure about and making them sound like they’re fact. Again, I just want people to relax and feel that they’ll be okay because the UC looks at everything in the application.
I know I’m probably getting into the school, but I really hope they take me in for my major (CS). I have a 3.79 GPA with IGETC done and one major pre-req not done. The reason I wasn’t able to take the class was because it wasn’t offered anywhere around that didn’t conflict with my other classes and the only online section became full quick.
@phil067 Nice! I may minor in psychology as well. My top choice is UCLA and then UCSD. I already got into UCI so I’m not as stressed but I already live close to UCI so I’m hoping to get accepted UCLA or UCSD so I can move out XD.
@bigvoot How did you hear back from uci so early - did you do honors to honors? I’d say either Berkeley or UCLA, but i would really like to go to Davis. I visited there a few weeks ago during my spring break and loved it. I’m visiting ucsd this week. Im excited to see what the campus is like
@bigvoot I got accepted to UCSB and UCSC so far. Santa Barbara has a beautiful campus. I thought santa cruz was ok. Some people love how its essentially in a forest but i didn’t care too much for it
@phil067 Probably because I tag’ed to UCI but I’m not sure because some of my friends who tagged didn’t receive their decisions yet, so might have to do with one’s majors as well.
I’ve visited UCSD and it’s definitely a nice campus and it’s around a nice area as well filled with good tacos.
