Looking at last year’s thread it doesn’t seem like they gave any indication of when they were going to release them before releasing them. I don’t think not getting any updates from their Twitter or whatever means anything, they’ll just drop when they drop.
I’m not even going to submit my “intent not to register” form. They really don’t deserve the heads up after all this inconsiderate bs they’ve put us through.
Hey yall, ive been on the ucla forum this entire time and this is my first time here. Any info on when decisions are coming out?
In years past they’ve never given any prior notice, but now that it’s happening I don’t like that lol
I still don’t understand the down side of telling us when they are going to drop the decisions. What do they have to lose by telling us a date lol
@bomnd the most obvious downside to me is that if they aren’t ready in time then they have 15,000 frantic students calling them and asking why their decision didn’t post yet when they said it would.
Really I don’t see a big upside for them to tell us until they’re completely done reviewing applications.
@Left_hand No, they didn’t but we all find that quite unreasonable. Most of the other UCs manage to announce their dates and get their decisions out on time. UCB even managed to hold interviews and get their decisions out early and on time…
As a large institution and a working system they should be able to set a date and stick to it. They’ve had our applications for 5 months and our TAU’s for 3.
@kristinpete @ucdochopeful2k19 I agree but then UCSC is super frustrating because they are just rolling and a number of people have heard nothing yet (including my daughter) while some have known for over a month. That is aggravating too.
Just wanted to let you guys know that when I got in last year, they released decisions at 6:02pm. That means decisions can drop at any time.
@CAtransplant I haven’t heard from UCSC either. I’d say that situation is every more unprofessional and annoying. The only difference is that UCSD is a top choice for me.
lol that’s no difference, UCLA will drop all at once on tmw and they receive the highest number of applicants, as a matter of fact, they even told us an exact date when the decisions gonna be released.
I don’t see why UCSD couldn’t even just give an indication about when they gonna release the decisions. ?
I’m suddenly worried. My plan is hopefully UCSD computer science major, but I just got into UCSB as a math major, my backup, instead of cs. I have a 3.97 GPA (one A-). I did plan my courses more around what would articulate to UCSD and not UCSB, so that might have been what happened. I only took two semesters of Calculus-based Physics and I took Java courses instead of C++. I did get into UCI as a CS major though. I did the TAG program there, because UCSD didn’t have one I was eligible for.
Just so you know, UCSB does not read your personal statement essays where UCSD does. Your GPA and courses look good, and if you have all your major prep done with some good essays you should be fine. I know everyone is worried and second-guessing everything now that the decision day is almost upon us. Have patients! I know that’s not easy with how poor UCSD is with communication…
@hafnium where did you hear that UCSB doesn’t read your personal statements? If anything I’ve only heard UCSD doesn’t put that much weight on the essays.
Go to page 43, it says which UCs read essays (personal insights). UCSC is one of them that doesn’t.

@embth7 I think your good if you did all the stuff on assist for UCSD CS.
Please let today be the day…
Maybe if enough people start commenting on the UCSD admissions twitter, they’ll give an answer like UCLA did
