To anyone: don’t be shy to correct me =)

Just follow the IGETC and you’ll be fine. Remember UCSD has a Oxford-like curriculum, so will be taking additionally GE courses along with with your major.

And they don’t have a “film” major. From people I’ve talked to, it’s not really a film production-based school either. Btw, I applied there, too ;)

That’s because many CCC’s don’t offer them. I go to MTSAC and I talked to a UCSD rep and she told me just follow the IGETC, and I’d be fine.

Many of those courses are courses you will take over there anyhow.

*I don’t mean to be rude, but more advice-giving; UCSD is around 5-6th on my list of Film Schools in CA. And I did research.

UCSD has the mixture of film/photography/studio art and from the people I’ve spoken to, many seemed a bit unsatisfied with their program from a PRODUCTION standpoint, which may or may not be your cup.

If you want more production, go to it’s “little sister,” SDSU. They have a strong film program for about half the price cheaper.

I would rank the UC’s in film.

UCLA - The only one that’s production based, but hard as hell to get into.

UCSB - recently built this multi-million dollar building dedicated to film:

[Carsey-Wolf Center for Film, Television, and New Media](http://www.cftnm.ucsb.edu/)

UCSD - above
UCB - Well…it’s Cal. Plus, the atmosphere is quite “inspiring.”
UCI - If you want to be a screenwriter, they have strong creative writing courses.

Cal-State:

CSULB
CSUSD
CSUN
CSUSF
CSULA

I’ve heard they have strong production based programs with a fraction of the price.

It’s weird that UC’s only have ONE school that offers FILM PRODUCTION, while CSU have at least 8 schools I can think of. You would think since many of the UC’s are considered “public ivy,” they would have more emphasis on the visual arts, at least.

Anyways, I’m dying to get into UCLA’s film school. But I’d be happy to be at SDSU/CSULB.

Good luck.
