Does UCSD supply free student software for personal computers, for example Microsoft Word or Powerpoint? I am aware of other universities that do, and neeeeeed Microsoft Word on my personal computer.

I don't think any university supplies free software such as MS word or vista, but many have deals so that its cheaper for students. Not sure about UCSD, though.

You can get OpenOffice, it's a good and free substitute for those programs.

eeee thanks you Tien! you've proved you're cool once again! (btw, did that rhyme or am I saying your name wrong?) all I really needed was a substitute for powerpoint and Impress works great :)

i know if you take MAE3 (basically an engineering course w/ CAD stuff involved), you get free installations of both the 2D and 3D versions of CAD from Autodesk (tho it's the student version). the non-student version would cost a company over 1k
