I live in San Diego. There was an article in our local paper this morning discussing how the University of California - San Diego is hoping to boost its number of international students over the next several years in order to become more of an "internationally focused" campus. I don't have more details than that, but thought I'd pass this information along as this may indicate that international students would get a bit of a boost this year in terms of admittance. UCSD is an excellent school, with particular strengths in biotechnology and engineering. It is somewhat less selective than UCLA and UCB (but still quite selective). You can apply using the same application as that for UCLA and UCB.

I was lookin' at UCSD before, for biotechnology. grin But I couldn't really find any int'l finaid. (I find the website confusing.) Ah, I don't think they offer need-based int'l finaid. Pity. It was one of my top choices.

Well, do they give financial aid to internationals?
And that's the problem with me applying to UCs.
[I've been living in California for 3 years and I don't qualify as a resident, because my dad didn't pay taxes, well didn't have any to pay]

yeah i read that in the papers too. looks like it's a good news for internationals, considering the fact that compeitition is growiong more intense this year.
