UCSD Housing

For undergraduate housing, what are the dorms like? Especially for sixth college - do students who didn’t apply for the housing still get offered housing on the waitlist, and how densely populated are the dorms?

Dorms at UCSD are all suite-style, meaning four to seven single-gender rooms (mostly triples) share a suite area and a bathroom. For the most part, they’re comfortable but not luxurious; some are better than others, though. I’d say Muir’s are generally the nicest (but least conducive to partying), followed by ERC and Warren, Revelle’s Argo/Blake, Marshall triples, Revelle Fleets, Sixth rooms, and the worst, Marshall mini-doubles.

Sixth College’s dorm buildings are numbered between 700-710 and laid out around a central green. They’re shaped like wooden cabins, which has given this part of Sixth the nickname “Camp Snoopy”. Each building is two stories with four suites (one male suite and one female suite on each side of the building), divided by a central kitchen and lounge. Within the spacious suites, there’s another lounging area (a few sofas and a coffee table, not the best for parties). This suite connects to around four or five triple rooms. The rooms are some of the smaller triples I’ve seen; the ceilings are pretty low, though the floor space is adequate. I wouldn’t call it cramped, though. There are usually college activities on the green, at Warren Field, and in the Dogghouse/Lodge.

If you ended up on the housing waitlist, you still have a decent shot at getting housing. I don’t know how late you’ll find out, though.
