UCSD or U of Miami for Marine Biology

My D is going into Marine Biology and has been accepted by both UCSD as a Bio major and U. of Miami's Rosenstiel School of Marine Science as a bio/marine bio major.

Should she go to Miami (having to pay only $10,000 after aid) or UCSD (having to pay $24,000 after aid).

She is planning on going to grad school and could do Miami for undergrad and UCSD for grad school.

Opinions?

You must be out of state, if UCSD costs 24 grand even after aid. With my financial circumstances, I’d go to Miami if given the above choices. However, its really up to whether you can pay for your daughter’s education, and your D’s preferences. 24,000 still isn’t too much compared to most private schools.

UCSD has a very good Marine Biology program. My vote is for UCSD if you can afford it. If money is a problem, go to Miami.

UCSD isn’t worth the extra money. I vote for Miami.

I go to Miami ~3 times a year, and it is my least favorite city in the world (I’m from North Florida). Between that and the slightly better program at UCSD, I’d go for it. Unless money’s REALLY an issue. If it was, you wouldn’t be asking us though, would you? :)

Yes, we are OOS and money is very tight.

Rosentiel is wonderful and she will get a great education in marine bio at UMiami. If she likes the school, go with the money. My S will graduate from UM this May with a microbiology degree and has loved his time there.
