UCSD or UCSB?

So I'm considering going to UCSD, UCSB, and UCI (although im kinda set on not going to Irvine). I applied as a chem E major, but I didn't get in to SB for my major (only as an undeclared major).

I already know that sd doesn't really have that great of a social life, but I got into ERC with a few of my friends and my current girlfriend lol, and I've never really been the social type so I think I can deal with it. (I'm not basing my college decision off of where the people I know are going though.)

I'm still kinda stuck in the middle between ucsd and ucsb though. I actually don't really know very much about how college works, so all help would be appreciated. Can anyone tell me what things I should consider most in my decision and give me a suggestion as to where to go based on my major? I know sb has a higher ranked program for my major than sd (and there's a chance I could still transfer into it later right?), but I've been under the impression that prestige is pretty important and that sd is better in that department.

All help is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Bump??? =)

Just how badly do you want that major? I wouldn’t count on being able to transfer into it later unless UCSB can show you stats saying that 90+% of good faith applications are granted.

Have you visited the campuses? I’m not into the wild party scene and I love residential colleges, so this decision would be easy for me, but if you’d be a lot happier at UCSB, I think that’s a valid consideration.
