UCSD or UW

im debating here...
what do u guyz say? university of washington-seattle? or university of san diego?
ucsd is higher in rank- like on USnews, but then ppl say uw is better... :S

major?
I like UW since they literally offer any major under the sun and have a good program in everything.

But it you are for CA or want to major in a biology sub field UCSD is better.

im thinking of premed- so sumwhere around the sciences, chem most importantly- but i also want to take variety of courses-
cali seems fun though... in washington, its like all trees.
oh, and I heard that UW has a good medical school- but I don't know if I should base my decision based on medical school because i dont even know if i will get in uw med.

I wouldn't say that -- probably about the same (even though I'd personally give UCSD the edge). While UW has a great med school, UCSD's isn't too far behind...

Correct, don't base you choice of undergraduate education on whether or not a research campus has a medical school. For undergraduates, typically one has nothing to do with the other. Besides, admission at state med schools is heavily weighted in favor or residents. And in the case of UW, that will include Alaska, Idaho and Montana because of a compact among those states.

Check your facts. The U of San Diego is a private and Catholic college (not bad academics, either). U of California-San Diego is obviously part of the state supported UC system.
