Hi, for the new 2009 Tag it says that you need to have your english and math components finished by Fall 2008. I have taken EWRT 1A and need to take the critical writing, reading, and thinking portion for the fall quarter. I was wondering if I HAD to take EWRT 2 as my only option. I was wondering if i could take take Phil.3 of Spch. 9 (which are comparable English 2 courses on the IGETSEE) instead, and the tag would still apply to me? Thank you.

it's just referring to your two transferrable english and math--it doesn't matter which ones they are ** they do though have to be the ones approved for IGETC

thank you! i think i'm gonna opt for a phil or spch instead of ewrt 2 class.

igetc =/= TAG

make SURE tag allows those "substitute" courses; usually TAG's are pretty specific though in the courses they want you to take.
don't want to be f'ed in the end

for example: at de anza EWRT1B and 2 are the same
however, Santa Clara wants 1B and IGETC and the UC's want 2

up until this year that was the case but for ucsd starting fall 09' IGETC pretty much does = TAG now. You still need to submit the form but it is directly linked to your completion of IGETC. The catch is though, like you know, you need the math and english classes done by the end of fall.

So just to clarify, taking Phil 3 or Spch 9 instead of EWRT 2 will still apply for UCSD's new tag? so as long as i have the math and english composition part of the igetsee done by fall, I should be good? Thanks again

i'm still a bit confused on the whole tag agreement thing. it sa's "If you indicate TAG and Intersegmental General Education Transfer Curriculum (IGETC) on your UCSD application, you will be guaranteed admission if you meet the TAG requirements."

is UCSD still following their previous tag? or is the tag just basically to finish igetsee with a 3.0?

I was told by a counselor that Phil 3 does not cover igetc for a UC

I just cleared it up with a counselor and the admissions people at UCSD, as long as the course is comparable to EWRT2 on your schools IGETSEE list it is okay to take Phil 3 as a replacement course. Do you go to De Anza?

don't even bother TAG, trust me

I know this is a really old post, but I’m doing TAG this year and I’m wondering if Phil 3 or EWRT 1B can replace EWRT 2 as the 2nd english course required for completion at the end of fall?
