Hello All,
I'm about to finish up 50 or so units at CC and I'm interested in writing a tag for ucsd for fall 1010 admission. However, I am pretty confused on how this process works. Do I need to sign a contract? Or do I just need to complete IGETC? What If my major is a bio major and its really hard to finish IGETC? Could I still sign a TAG?

thanks!

You do not need to sign a TAG Contract. You will need to finish English and Math Requirements by the end of Fall 2009 in order for you to be eligible or TAG for Fall 2010. IGETC needs to be completed by Spring 2010. How many classes are left for IGETC. You sound like you are pretty close, given you aren’t going to need TAG until Fall 2010.

Also, check at your school to see if you need to attend a TAG workshop. My school required it, and it’s semi helpful (a lot of the stuff you’ll probably already know)

That’s true. The TAG workshop is pretty easy. I was the only one who attended the day I went to the TAG workshop. You can download the contract from UC Website and complete it, then you can take it in and sign it with your counselor. I signed a contract, because I like talking with the counselor and feel better signing the contract. Though it isn’t necessary, it is the way I prefer.

actually, you can wait until you apply and just check the box on the application, that’s what i did.

sweetnezz998- really? they didn’t verify it or anything? or, did you really sign TAG’s with all the schools?

Didn’t verify anything and I didn’t hand sign any TAG with any schools. As long as you have all of the requirements for TAG done by the time of applying you can check the box and that was it.

For UCSD Fall '09, all I did was go to a tag workshop at my CC and they explained everything. I met with a counselor and we filled out a form, but it only stayed at the school, just for reference/proof of TAG? I followed IGETC and checked off a box on my application for TAG and IGETC in November. Easy peasy. Should be the same for Winter 2010.

Talk to a CC counselor about their TAG agreement, they’ll probably have a workshop or a form or something.
