Who else is going to transfer admit day 2012??

What type of activities are they providing? Do we have to stay within a group of people or are we able to free roam the campus ourselves?

This thread is devoted to talking about the upcoming transfer admit day at UCSD.

I’m going. I have no clue what to expect.

I was totally planning on going alone, but the RSVP website was like “What is the name of the parent/guardian attending with you?” So is this like a thing that you’re supposed to go with family?

I didn’t go last year, but if orientation is any indication… total waste of time. I bailed on my orientation group at lunchtime. No way was I hanging around that for the next four hours.

^ What was wrong with dem people?

Nothing was wrong with my group, it was just a pointless tour. I presume transfer admit day is even more worthless since orientation is technically “mandatory” and this isn’t. Orientation was the week before fall quarter started and I had already been living on campus all summer taking classes, so it was a little backwards to go learn super basic stuff like how to log into Triton Link and what constitutes academic dishonesty (hint: the same stuff that does at CC/HS/middle school/elementary school.) It was supposed to go from like 9AM-4PM and I bailed at some point around 11:30 during lunch.

We got a free t-shirt and lunch from Dave’s BBQ, but that was it. If I were to do it all over again I’d sign the sheet at the beginning, turn around and leave.

Meh. Of course, it could be worthwhile for someone who hasn’t ever visited the campus, or is still indecisive. Many people haven’t seen the housing (myself included - I’d see the rooftop terrace and the bedrooms with my own two eyes) or their departmental labs and whatnot. The quality of the CS labs is kind of a deciding factor me, since I feel like I’ll end up putting in a lot of hours there.

Hopefully the weather will be nice. It was absolute junk in La Jolla last wknd.

It’s leik dis:

Free popsicles and BBQ @ the village, how can I resist?

How many Asian people should I expect to see on transfer admit day?
