@gamer142 @zcarfaz yeah that’s true but I love it too much to not visit the campus :(

Did you guy write this statement as good as you write your personal statement or is it just a normal explanation telling them why I would like to attend UCSD?
I heard this statement has no impact on getting in or out and they just offer you admission if there is a position available. I also heard that they do this waitlist thing because they have a very high rate of turn overs…

Literature/Writing
3.1

Opted in on the first day.

Just withdrew my acceptance. hopefully it goes to one of you on the wait list!

@mayonasian24

Sweet! Less competition! jk

Where are you going?

What does the wait list mean? :)

I just finished my essay for waitlist. lol. I will send it tomorrow morning.

@mayonasian thanks!!! where did you SIR to? wat major?

I submit mine on Monday. I wonder how many people are on the waitlist

3.14 psych major.

Waitlisted
3.35
Bio major

I just opted in. *sigh I just wanted to get it over with.

Poli Sci
3.34 GPA

San Diego - “several hundred” waitlist offers went out (couldn’t get further clarification on how much is “several hundred”; tentatively the campus thinks it won’t need to pull any students off the waitlist to meet enrollment target, so start looking at your backup schools if you are on the waitlist)

From ms.sun

Ouch…this kinda blows…hopefully some spots open up.

damn!!! all my hopes just vaporized!!

damn… no way…

I have trouble believing that nobody will be taken off the wait list. I’m no expert, but there must be students who go into UCB UCLA and UCSD who are going to UCB or UCLA instead. I got into UCSD Poli Sci but will be going to UCB, so one would think that there is a space right there opening up. Wait until June 1st before you guys give up on UCSD.

Just my 2 cents…

@GoTOCC

UCSD took no one off the frosh waitlist last year. This can happen to transfer too.

@gotocc
On the other hand, people who applied to SD LA and Berk might have gotten rejected from LA and Berk.

gotocc, there are always more admits than open spots. for ex. I think ucsd admitted around 5-6k but only has 2700 open spots. They are short on housing this yr and the lady said it was an extremely competitive admit class (avg admitted gpa was 3.65 compared to 3.5 last year). They also made bio unimpacted so it was even more competitive cuz there were more qualified applicants. I got this all at transfer admit day on saturday. I sired to ucla but ucsd was my 2nd choice. If i was doing pre-med, i wouldve probably gone to ucsd instead. They had a orientation thing for pre-med transfers and it’s insane how they prepare their pre-meds.

“Transfer student applications decreased 1.5 percent from 2012 with a total of 14,948 transfer students applying for admission. The mean high school grade point average (GPA) for freshmen is 3.77; the average GPA among transfer applicants is 3.35.”

That’s according to UCSD news…

I’m sure many of you have already read it, but here’s a link for those who haven’t.

[For Fall 2013 Term UC San Diego Receives 82,340 Freshman and Transfer Applications](http://ucsdnews.ucsd.edu/pressrelease/for_fall_2013_term_uc_san_diego_receives_82340_freshman_and_transfer_applic)

I got into both UCD and UCI. I got a weird letter from UC Merced…which I didn’t even apply to, saying that I got accepted. WEIRD!

I hope that UCSD goes by a more holistic view like UCB and UCLA. A friend of mine got accepted with a 3.02 GPA as a Psych major at Warren.

Makes me more and more curious as to how they choose their admitted students.
