UCSD Transfer Waitlist 2013

But just to make sure, someone else can also call and ask SD admissions to see what they say this time…

Oh man…I was jw if anyone SIR’d to a different UC where they are asking for you to sign up for housing and orientation. I don’t want to pay $500 deposit for housing and $94 for orientation if I have a chance to get into UCSD. What’s everyone else doing?? Please let me know!!!

At least it doesn’t say the deposit is nonrefundable you can get it back. Of course the orientation fee is nonrefundable…

@Pinkinkink Are you talking about Davis? If so, I think you should probably get the money back…they’re pretty understanding usually. But if it specifically says “non-refundable”, then you may be out of luck. I believe they did say non-refundable, but best thing is to just call and ask admissions at that other UC directly!

@jay86442 yeah I posted my stats a couple weeks ago but here they again:

Major: Poli sci
Gpa: 3.34
Extracurriculars: a lot, plus a number of different jobs

@Yesivtte ah alright, yeah I just wanted to get a feel for what majors/gpas everyone has who’s still on the waitlist. From what I’ve heard out of this thread as well as from my own friends, there are still waitlisted people with pretty high gpas (3.5+). So the way they accepted waitlisted people could be completely random or they could be using some methodology that takes many factors into consideration.

In summary, it’s time for people like me to stop predicting if we’ll get accepted or not and just let whatever happen :/

Hey everyone I’m a Chemical engineering major with a 3.17 GPA and I’m still wait-listed also :/

@TK3333 Welcome to the depressing group  LOL

@jay86442 Thanks lol for some reason I haven’t seen anyone with my major post on any of the websites I’ve been on. So I wonder where I stand, because at the moment I’ve got no clue at all.

@TK3333 I remember my friend telling me that he knows a chemical engineering major who’s waitlisted and with a gpa higher than yours too

@jay86442 No way? hmm… do you know if that friend had all the required lower division classes completed or not?

Because I think that has a lot to do with people who have higher GPA’s being wait-listed.

@TK3333 So basically, there’s plenty of people who haven’t posted on this site but may share your same major - just keep hoping for the best! (Possibly new decisions coming up on Wed/Thurs this week according to an admissions rep)

good point, I don’t know about that but that’s a good possibility. He got into Davis though (I believe he had a 3.5+ gpa) for chemical engineering. And usually to get into engineering for Davis, I think they require that you finish most prereqs…so I have no idea why he got waitlisted for SD

@jay86442 Yeah at this point I’m just praying I get in because SD was my first choice and is the only choice I’ve got left also since everywhere else I applied rejected me :(. I’m really convinced that they’ve wait-listed everyone who’s eligible that shares my major though because I’ve looked just about everywhere and I’ve seen acceptances for almost every major but mine. Unless chemical engineering majors just don’t like to post lol.

@TK3333 haha yeah tough to predict much since the people on this thread are a relatively small sample size out of all the waitlisted people - but we shall see what happens

Alright guys, a little more info…

 1. So, my friend talked to another admissions rep and that person said that decisions MIGHT not come until a week or more later from now BUT by mid-June (so this conflicts with what another admissions rep that I talked to earlier said about decisions coming tomorrow or Thursday -_____-)

2) For those of you wondering how some people with close to 3.0 gpas got in - well, it’s possible that some/most/all of those people are part of a program called “UniversityLink” at UCSD where you just have to maintain 3.0 at one of the participating community colleges to be guaranteed admission to UCSD (I would have totally gone down to a community college in the San Diego area had I heard of this program about 2 years earlier)

3) According to the admissions rep, “GPA and the waitlist statement are both very important factors in the decision process.” Yet, I don’t understand why people with high GPA’s are still waitlisted so idk.

4) The batch of transfer students that got admitted off the waitlist on 5/29/13 were a very small pool of people. There are still over 1000 people waiting on the waitlist apparently. :O

Well, that’s it with the new info. I don’t know what else to say.
