Ok as my dad put it for me since I'm coming out of state....don't worry so much about the wrong decision. Seriously, it's San Diego or SLO. Rough life. Could you really go wrong? Just have fun where you want for 4 years.

zagat - fewer kids are aimed in that direction, so fewer kids go to grad school after cal poly? I'm going to cal poly, and I aspire to go to grad school, thus I can get into a good grad school (depending on grades of course)? Is that your logic or do grad schools really view uc's as a better source? I have heard quite a few people say this, and it disappoints me...

Alex- I seriously doubt grad schools look down on CP students. Take vet school, for example. On average, half of UC Davis' Vet School entering class come from Davis, one quarter from Cal Poly, and another quarter from all other schools. If a school has good programs, grad schools will recognize it. They also recognize that Cal Poly is one of the only schools that require a Senior Project(A research project) to graduate.

Alright thanks a lot. I didn't get into any of the UC's I wanted to get into, so now I feel a little better. I was just wondering about it because I went to the website, and they show a survey about the most recent graduation class which consists of their current salary or their grad school. Of the few people that responded to the survey, the grad schools were not that impressive.

Okay, I'm a different major but I'm making this same choice. The crap that people are saying about RANKINGS and ACCEPTANCE RATES, that's all bologna. A close friend of mine goes to SLO and was just picked over a Princeton and Harvard student for a summer business internship. If you go to SLO, you'll no doubt get a great education; UCSD -- the same thing. UCSD is more of a research school though, and also has larger class sizes overall. VISIT if you can. CHECK out the facilities. Both are TOP national public schools.
