hi ....it's now the begining of ...time to make decision...

I am an international student (both for USA and Canada) and I was admitted by:
- McGill, B.Sc Biology / BioMed life Science
- UCSD, Biochemistry / Cell Science

I love both, and I feel like pursuing a life science career (not necessarily medical).

hard to make a choice, yes. I need your guys advice considering
- reputation
- quality in undergraduate education
- career / medical school
- cost
- quality of life

haha~~ your voice may change my life...Thanks

I don’t think many people in CA have heard of McGill, so it depends on where you want to work. If you want to work in CA, then SD would be the better choice. SD also has an amazing biochem department.

thank you kk27~
yes it depends greatly on where I wanna stay…and work. In terms of weather SD is for sure better. How is the job prospect in SD? I heard that San Diego is developing its Bio_Valley and many biocompanies are active there?

I’ve heard of McGill and I know it’s one of the most prestigious universities in Canada and that it’s also well known in the US. But I’m not too familiar with it’s programs since I wasn’t interested in applying there.

One thing I have to say is: you should absolutely visit both schools if possible. The environment at UCSD and McGill are completely different. From what I’ve seen, McGill is like a European castle and UCSD has a lot of modern art. The living styles are for sure different, and I think you should choose where you’ll be more comfortable.

I’ve always wanted to visit McGill, but haven’t gotten the chance yet.

With that said, be aware that McGill is in its own culture (it’s in Quebec!), so if you’ve never been around French-Canadians, then it’ll be a little weird getting adjusted. It’s in a very beautiful part of Canada and its reputation is top-notch in Canada and still fairly well-known in the US and internationally.
