I know that the campuses are completely different but I can't seem to compare the programs for communications on an objective way. I need a third person's perspective. Please help me. I'm a Californian at heart and I do love NYU but I'm kind of scared to venture so far from home (Los Angeles).

i have the same problem :(, full ride to ucsd vs 25k a year for nyu. how do the two compare financially? i visited UCSD today and i found it a little dull and quiet, but my friends say TJ and San Diego itself has plenty to do.

me too! if you guys have decided yet let me know which you chose and why... i LOVE new york and would go there in a heartbeat if it were the same cost as UCSD. is debt after nyu worth it or should i just drag myself to ucsd because its safer financially. (p.s. i live in northern california)

Do the math on what it takes to pay back $100K of debt (assuming you end up paying for it) to get an idea of how much of an impact it is on someone either continuing on to grad school or starting out their career (hint - it's a fair impact in monthly cost for a lot of years). Another way to value it is to consider what else can be had for $100K including study abroad, traveling, a new Porsche Boxster, down payment on a condo/house, etc.

If you wanna do communications, NYC is the mass media capital of the country. There are numerous internships and hands-on learning opportunities.

If you're scared of NYC right now, you probably won't get any further than california your whole life. College is a perfect opportunity to break out of your shell and experience new innovations!

I personally think NYU is worth the debt, especially if you're a commy major. NYC will be your playground... c'mon, how much better can it get?

If you plan to major in science/engineering, it may be a different story.
