UCSD vs UDUB

Hi all,

So I received my acceptance letters to both UCSD (for EE) and UDUB (for CS). My original intent was to go for cs--a decision that i made during the summer out b/c it seemed interesting. So I'm practically going for cs w/o any background really.

Anyhow here are my options I need help with:

(1)
UCSD
I ended up getting EE for UCSD instead of CS
I'm in state, so with grants I'll end up paying around $21k
pros/cons: good weather, limited intern/job opportunities (qualcomm etc, compared with udub)

(2)
UDUB
accepted into CS
$7.5k scholarship so i'll end up paying around $40k
pros/cons:rainy weather, more intern/job opportunities (microsoft,amazon, etc)

My main concern is that if I choose to go to UCSD how I will like EE and how easy it would be for me to transfer into it. Another concern pertains to something I heard my friend's cousin (harvard grad) talk about. He said that udub's undergrad is definitely not that good. If you wanna go for cs just go for grad skool because their undergrad "sucks" (<-- direct quote, i think he's just really emphasizing the diff between their prestigious grad program and so-so undergrad)

Your guys' advice would be great!

UCSD CS is impacted; contact its CS department to find out how difficult it will be to change into it.

[Impacted Majors](Capped Majors)

Washington’s CS major is known to be highly competitive to get into, but if you are directly admitted to the major (as opposed to some other major or undeclared) as a frosh, you need not worry about that. But Washington is more expensive since you are out-of-state. Since you are getting a significant financial aid grant from UCSD, you are probably not in a position to afford $76,000 more over four years for Washington.
