UCSD vs UW-Madison vs UMinnesota ChemE

Hey college confidential community, I’m having kind of a hard time deciding on a university so I want your opinions about this.

Curently these schools are my top reasonable choices. I applied for Chemical Engineering but as what usually happens for most students, UMN and UW Madison accepted me to the college of engineering and not my major. UCSD accepted me directly to ChemE. This may not be so big of an issue because my scholarship requires me to keep a 3.5 GPA and that would qualify me for ChemE at both UMN and UW. I’m more into the catalysis and manufacturing side of engineering, and this is why I lean towards Minnesota and Wisconsin over UCSD in terms of research areas and academics. However, the quarter system could work for me better and I love the beach and weather in San Diego.

Since I am an international student with a scholarship, tuitions aren’t a concern for me, but cost of living is to an extent.

If you have very specific research interests, UCSD could be an excellent fit
