alright, can you post here if you hear any new information or if you get in?

My son was waitlisted so wrote and submitted his waitlist essay, but also submitted an appeal. He was accepted on his appeal about a week after filing it in late March. Did any of you file an appeal in addition to submitting for the waitlist?

@takeitallin so your son has been admitted? Could you please tell me how to send the appeal?

Yes he was admitted on an appeal but they are no longer accepting them. They had to be submitted by April 15. You might call admissions to ask if they will still take them.

@takeitallin glad that ur son is admitted. Is ur son a transfer or freshmen? Im a transfer and just received my notification on end of april. Anyway, if you dont mind me asking, what reason he wrote on the appeal regarding “new and compelling” reason?

@takeitallin btw did you talk to an admission officer before you wrote the appeal?

He is a freshman so it may very well be that transfers can still appeal. He did not talk to an admissions adviser before appealing. He used the standard form from UCSD’s website to submit the appeal. It is very simple and allows you to submit an essay of up to a certain number of words (I think it was around 250) with the basis for your appeal. His was related to a medical condition he has to deal with. He did not discuss it in his original application because he doesn’t really like to dwell on it-it does definitely impact him on a daily basis. Once he submitted his appeal his status on the portal changed to accepted about a week later. Good luck everyone!

Has anyone made the waitlist yet? I haven’t received anything yet. :(

nope, i havent received anything either why are they taking so long? hoping the best for everyone!

I haven’t received anything yet either!

does this mean that maybe they’re taking the time to decide who to accept from the waitlist? :D

same thoughts with shelly1

Be sure to check your admissions status on-line occasionally. For his appeal, my son did not receive an e-mail or letter. He just happened to check his status and it had changed to “Congratulations,…”

that’s weird, so they’re trying to weed out student by not telling them if they got in? I got an email after I sent my appeal in saying I got waitlisted

@theman95, if that is the case, that is really evil and poor organization on their part -_-

i hope they do contact us at some point…i hope they dont just leave us hanging

The wait list info on our portals says that we will be notified on the site and through e-mail. If they want you they’re going to let you know one way or another. I highly doubt they would make you wait this long and write another essay just to not notify you.

“We will notify you of our final application decision by email and on this MyApplication site after May 1 and no later than June 1.”

well ucsd didn’t really notify its students when its decision came out the first time so it wouldn’t surprise me if they do the same thing again

Yeah when I first heard I got waitlisted, I found out through the site and didn’t get an email until a few days later.
