UCSD Waitlisted because of major?

<p>Hi i was wondering if i got waitlisted because i chose a major i was not qualified for. I have a 3.83 gpa and a 2130 SAT score. I am also asian if that has a factor in anything... I do sports and am an eagle scout and do loads of community service. however, i applied as a visual arts major thinking it was a major not many applied as and thus would get me in. But i was waitlisted any hoo and i know alot of ppl with worse stats than me and got in. </p>

<p>On another note, on the 200 word "want to go to UCSD but got waitlisted" essay, any suggestions on what to write?</p>

<p>Best of luck with the waitlist; the enrollment goals went up by 100 for this year, so there is definitely hope.</p>

<p>The major you picked has nothing to do with it and the fact that your Asian has equally nothing to do with it. It’s baffling to us too. I don’t know how to help you on the essay though.</p>

<p>It’s kinda odd to see so many random rejects this year. It’s even weirder that people at my school are getting into very good college in huge amount compared to the past few years.</p>

<p>I dont think that has anything to do with it because I am undeclared right now, and I put 2 choices for my major.</p>
