Has anyone received financial aid on top of their DiScho scholarship (other than federal aid)? My D was surprised not to, given what we qualify for at other schools.
Congrats to all the DiSchos and their parentsâŠfeel free to ask any questions (via PM if you prefer) about UD and the program. Daughter is frosh DuPont Scholar this year.
@SevenDad remind meâŠdo DiSchos get priority registration, etc. and is that for all Honors College kids? Any other perks?
Sitting here with my daughter (home for Spring Break) and she says that Honors Program kids get priority academic registration as well as housing priority. According to the 2014 DiScho weekend PDF linked to below, DiSchos do get priority registrationâŠdonât know whether this is above what is granted to Honors Program students. Daughter reports no issues getting into the classes she wanted, but suggests registering as soon as possible for classes.
As for perks, you can consult the flyerâŠsome of the named scholarships have different benefits (like a book stipend or summer study stipend):
Thanks!
SevenDad did your daughter participate in the Thursday night, sleep in the dorm and go to class Friday morning portion of the DiScho competition?
Sorry for the delay in replyingâŠI donât check this thread that oftenâŠYes, she did the overnight program. She actually had to come home early from a family vacation to attend, but it was worth it!
Thank you!! We are looking forward to it!!
Definitely worth it @Buck17 !
We now have 2 kids at Delaware, both Distinguished Scholars, and both love it.
Wow!! Thatâs incredible!! Congratulations!!
Howâd it go for everyone this year?
No information yet, still checking several times a day;)
@BB444: But the event itself? Challenging? Fun? Stressy? What you thought it would be? Different than you thought it would be?
Is anyone else having trouble accessing financial aid information on the My Blue Hen portal? My son is waiting to hear about his (hopefully new) scholarship after attending the 2017 DiSch weekend. The waiting is killing me!! UD is definitely his first choice but financially out of reach without significant $$. We are OOS and he has already received two other full tuition scholarships with additional $$. Has anyone received notificatio and if so, how did it come to you? (email, snailmail, phone call?) Thanks!

I think my daughter got a direct phone call (to her cell phone) to let her know which scholarship she had been selected for.
My son received an email from them today advising that he was chosen as a Dupont scholar. He wants to major in history and William and Mary is his top choice, but they gave him $0. Any info on the history program at Delaware? I know it is best known for itâs engineering program, but Iâm hoping that he will have lots of internship and research opportunities at Delaware and it will help sway him in that direction. Thanks!
Congrats on the awardâthat is awesome!
Here are a few links. It appears that there is plenty going on at UD in the history department
The second link is about one of the history professors who just published a book. I heard her interview recently on NPR.
