@KrinkleKat @JumpingLemur Would you mind giving us your stats so we can see how UDel is distributing scholarships this year? Thanks!
@SALSRL no problem. 1830 SAT, 4.3 W GPA/3.8 UW, all AP/Honors courses. OOS with intended Communications major. Decent ECs, tons of community service, a great writer with a heartfelt, personal essay. Overall a very strong candidate, but lacking an “uber score” for the SAT, esp compared to what I have seen on this thread. Hope this helps. She really loves UDel and receiving a break on the tuition is huge, since we’ll have 2 in college at the same time!
@KrinkleKat Thank you! We have 1 other also in college and I know how every little bit helps! My S applied to Engineering on 11/29 and is waiting to hear on acceptance. Hopefully, we will hear something soon. Congrats to your D.
@SALSRL wishing you good luck! Engineering and Nursing at UDel seem to be pretty popular, but competitive for sure. I think it helped that my D has a less competitive major. My husband is a graduate of Stevens Tech in Hoboken, but no other engineers in the family, much to his dismay.
2190 SAT, 4.81 W GPA, 3.81 UW. 3 APS (before Senior Year) and the rest honors. Decent ECs, community service, and leadership. Essays were decent, and my recommendations were pretty good. Intended major of Accounting or Finance.
My daughter’s portal only shows information about other financing options on the award notice page. Does this mean she will not be earning any merit scholarships?
@Kornysnaps That is what my page looked like, so I’m assuming it means we didn’t receive any merit scholarships.
From what I am hearing, the merit scholarships are lagging a week or two behind acceptances, and no one has yet been notified about Distinguished Scholars.
Well it’s been over two weeks for me and still no update, so I guess that I won’t be a Blue Hen
@JumpingLemur , I would think that your stats would get you some decent merit $ at UD. Perhaps you should email admissions to ask about it before you throw in the towel:)
@mamag2855 I emailed the admission office yesterday, and they said that scholarships show up about two weeks after admission, so maybe I’ll wait a few more days but it isn’t looking good.
Good luck, I hope you get some scholarship$$ in the end, UD is a great school.
My son was notified yesterday (~1 week after acceptance to Biomedical Engineering) that he received a Trustees Scholarship, $10,000 per year. His stats were: UWGPA 4.0, ACT 35, SAT2s 800/760, multi-sport varsity athlete, good counselor/teacher recs. We were happy to receive this.
I was wondering if this means for sure that he did not meet the invitation criteria for the Distinguished Scholars. My daughter was a DiScho a couple of years ago, and we do not remember her receiving notice of any other scholarship prior to the DiScho letter. Anyone know for sure?
Several years ago, my IS daughter was initially awarded a $7500 merit scholarship with her acceptance, then about 6 weeks later, she received a letter inviting her to compete for the DiScho awards, which would replace the original $7500 award if she was offered one after the scholarship weekend. I do not know whether it is still done this way.
I got awarded the Presidential scholarship this morning through the mail. $32,000 a year.
^^^^
sorry $32,000 total. 8 a year
Scholarship finally showed up on my portal, 10k a year Trustee scholarship.
My son too. Found out last week. $10k/year Trustee Scholarship
