So it is 2/15. Deadline for honors decisions and nothing here. Has anyone gotten a rejection by mail or email? When I inquired with admissions as to why honors banner on portal disappeared on 1/20 but no change since, they said they did not know what that meant but that decisions will be revealed by the 15th. Could it be a glitch and somehow got missed?
I donāt know about rejections, 2 of mine got in and the 3rd didnāt apply. I know for other schools some said they didnāt get in and others just didnāt offer honors.
Just got email that DD didnāt get honors. OOS, 4.0 unweighted, 4.7 weighted. 1390 SAT.
Actually thanks for posting this, my daughter got in, but didnāt encourage her twin to apply, 3.7 UWGPA, 1390 SAT, getting him to do anything extra is never easy.
Mine just got an email for honors saying they havenāt made a decision yet so sheāll be notified by April 1. Seriously. We will be done and decided by then!
No honors here either. Email said if space opens up they will reconsider. Honestly, they knew the decision back in January when honors was removed from the portal and was out of review. To make students wait does not resonate well.
Did you apply EA?
She applied EA to the school, after she was accepted she applied to honors. I guess technically the honors application wasnāt EA but Regular.
Basically the email she got read like a ādeferralā
"We hope you are excited and proud to be admitted to the University of Delaware, having been selected from one of the strongest applicant pools in the country. In addition to applying to the University, you also applied to the Honors College. At this time, we are continuing to shape our honors class and we have not yet finalized all of our decisions. We are continuing to consider you, and we plan to communicate a final decision to all of our remaining honors applicants by April 1.
Be assured that we recognize you are an accomplished student and, whether or not we can ultimately admit you to the Honors College, we encourage you to explore our other signature academic programs, including [study abroad][Scholars and Fellows], and [service learning].
Again, thank you for your application. Please feel free to contact us at admissions@udel.edu with any questions you may have. "
Thanks for the details. A little different than the letter received, which said cannot offer you a space on honors at this time but if space should open up we will reconsider your application. Reads like a half-baked deferral meets waitlist. Applied EA, honors application submitted about a week later. Moving on at this point. Didnāt offer much money so this is a disincentive actually. Lots of other really good options fortunately to choose from.
I think thatās nice that they will still consider the application, the two colleges where my daughter didnāt get into honors said nothing of the sort, and they are high on her list. One allows then to apply again freshman year.
Has anyone started a group for admitted honors students? My son is considering a FB or snap chat group but isnāt sure if there is one out there already. Looking to make connections and possibly find a roommate. Thanks!
I think my daughter said there was one. I will try to get the info from her.
I heard in previous years that if you attended the in person luncheon for honors acceptance they gave out more merit money. Does anyone know anything about this or if they will do something similar this year?
Iāve never heard that and have a UD honors daughter. Can you be referencing distinguished scholars weekend? Everyone invited gets more merit, letters have already gone out (about 100).
My S just received an email from the HC saying that now that he has accepted his position at UD the next step is to accept the HC position. Yet he HAS NOT committed to UD. Anyone else get this email?
