UDel v U of South Carolina, Columbia

My son is trying to decide between Delaware and South Carolina. He just committed to USC but he received his acceptance from UD (off waitlist) on Friday. UDE was orig his first choice, but he really likes SC. UDel seems to rank higher on all of the college ranking sites. Any thoughts? Please share.

What major are you applying for?

Excerise Science with plans to go on for DPT degree

UDEL has an excellant exercise science program in the College of Health Sciences. In addition UDEL’s DPT Program is ranked I believe 4th or 5th in the Nation. My daughter is in the BSN program in the same College. I don’t know anything about similiar programs at USC but you can’t go wrong attending UDEL for this major. I would urge you to visit UDEL if you have not done so already and tour their facilities. They are state-of-the-art. In addition the campus overall is one the the most beautiful in the country. Hope this info helps. Good luck where ever you descide to go.

i wanna eventually go for my DPT i chose Udel because there program I read was 4th in the nation [as previously stated by mwallenmd] and i absolutely loved the feel of the campus and i wanted a big school. honestly what the program is ranked truly doesnt matter what made the decision for me is that i could see myself living there- i think that is one of the most important factors. go to the college you like the most not because of the rank of the program. if you like both about the same— try to visit again and then decide. i hope this helps!

We’re going back for another visit on Monday. Hopefully we will know after that. Thanks for your input.

Where do you find these sites that not only rank the schools but rank the majors? I’m curious how the Computer and Information Sciences at major at UDEL is ranked.

There is no specific site that I know of that ranks undergraduate majors. U.S. News and World Report comes out with an issue every year that ranks Graduate Programs in most all majors. If you go to their web site you can get some ranking information but you either have to pay a small fee to get the complete rankings on line or you have to buy the issue from a newsstand. Most people then rate the undergraduate programs based on the ranking of the Graduate Program. This may not be completely accurate but it probably can give you some indication of the strength of the corresponding undergraduate major.

i searched majors on the udel site and read about physical therapy that information was included in the info.
