Which school is more selective? Which school is better? Any thoughts?

UDel accepts 56% of applicants and has an average SAT score of 1205.
UCONN accepts 49% and has an average of 1190.

I'm a UConn alum and D is a UDel sophomore. I'm biased obviously, but I'll try to be fair. The two schools are similar in many ways, and are significantly different in a few ways. Both are becoming more selective. "Better" academics may depend on which major you take.

Differences: UConn is randomly organized, with dorms and administrative offices and athletic facilities and classrooms, etc. spread across a mile-long campus. UDel is set up like a college, with classrooms arranged around the Green. Much less walking involved. Main Street Newark runs right through campus, so there's a lot more to do. Most of UDel's students are OOS, whereas most of UConn's are instate. The UDel 4-1-4 academic schedule permits students to study abroad without messing up their regular semester studies. UDel's climate is warmer obviously. There are differences in style also. Oh, if you're in New England don't plan on coming home weekends from UDel -- traffic on the NJ Turnpike and through NYC is a bear!

Good luck with your decision!
