UDel vs UMass vs Marist vs Binghamton for Computer Science

I live in New York.

Major- Computer Science

I received 10k from UMass, 15k from Marist and 10k from UDel (All per year.)

I think Binghamton is still the cheapest.

I visited all the schools and thought they were all really nice. If I had to rank each visit- UDel, UMass/Marist (tie), Binghamton.

I am definitely interested in the social scene of each school. My cousin goes to Binghamton and is on a sport team there and he even says that there isn’t much of a social scene compared to other schools.

From what I heard about Computer Science is that it all the education is pretty much the same but it really depends on what you put into it. Still, my biggest concern for each school is going to the school that will get me the best internships and job right out of college.

To be honest I really just want someone to make this decision for me. I wasn’t really expecting to get accepted to every school I applied to (10 schools…) and now I am feeling a bit overwhelmed.

Stony Brook?

Yes I was accepted there as well. However since it is so close I will be staying home if I go there and I am honestly not interested in doing that.

This may be a dumb decision considering I also got money from them but I am just really not interested in staying home. You can try and convince me otherwise though.

Why would you have to stay home? I know plenty of students who house in the dorms but whose family homes are close by. They have the best of both situations-the full college dorm experience and the ability to occasionally escape the college escape the college scene. Not only that but the have a social advantage because they know where to go and what to do so they are leaders socially.

Yes, you can attend the nearby school but live in the dorm your frosh year. If finances unexpectedly get worse, you would retain the option of commuting from home in later years to save money, although you would not have to otherwise if your parents are willing to pay for other schools that cost as much as or more than the cost of the nearby school living in the dorm.

Stony Brook appears to be the most well known of the SUNYs for CS.

True about Stony Brook although the expansion and infusion of funds into SUNY Polytechnic Institute could change that.

Rather than the scholarship, can you list 1° your parents’ budget (out of income/savings) and 2°the net cost at each?
TO find net cost, calculate (tuition+fees+r/b) - (scholarships/grants).

If the only consideration were computer science, then I’d say Binghamton or UMass. You appear to have really liked Delaware, though, and this should be weighed heavily.
