UDUB or University of Arizona or Purdue or UIUC or Cal Poly SLO for Business (Information Systems)

I have been admitted into all these schools for Business. I want to major in Management Information Systems.
For UDUB, I was not accepted into the direct pool of admitted students that gets accepted into the Foster School of Business. I have gotten “Pre-Major in the School of Arts and Sciences”.
For the University of Arizona, I have gotten Pre-Business (Management Information Systems), but I can not directly get the major till after I maintain certain grades and pass an interview at the end of my sophomore year.
For Purude, I got Computer Information Technology, which is a more technical version of Management Information Systems. I also got honors for this school.
For UIUC, I have gotten Pre-Business, but like the University of Arizona, I must maintain certain statistics and pass an interview at the end of my sophomore year to be able to major in Information Systems.
For Cal Poly SLO, I have gotten Business Administration and plan to have a concentration in Information Systems. There is no interview or grade requirement to get this concentration.

Based on this information, what school would you recommend I go to?

I think either Purdue because you got honors or SLO because you got into the major you want and graduates of SLO’s business program have high employment rates after graduation.

I would agree with @labradoodle5 . If you’re absolutely bent on your major and are certain you don’t want to change then go where you have a sure thing. I understand at schools like UW where getting into the major is competitive after admissions, you get a particularly competitive dynamic going between students which makes collaboration harder and will affect your college experience. And then you’re stuck if you can’t get your desired major. There was a newspaper article about this (I think in Seattle Times) recently.

My D had the same choice for Computer Engineering (where UW clearly states that only one third of the students get into that major), she chose CalPoly and could not be happier. CalPoly has a strong job placement record too, but it might be west coast only though, if that is a consideration for you.

On the other hand, if you feel you might end up changing your major, Purdue might be a better way to go, as you might have more options to switch your major if engineering is not your thing.

Good luck, you have good options to chose from regardless.

If you were accepted into the College of Business at UIUC, you are “unassigned”. The only major I am aware of that requires an application and interview is Supply Chain Management, not Information Systems and Information Technology.

Also, job placement seems very good.

You haven’t shared the cost of attendance for you at the aforementioned schools nor what kind of college experience you would like, so all I’ll add is that I have a daughter and a son who are currently attending UIUC. Things that helped them in their college decision was size of the college within the university, outside of the classroom opportunities and study abroad. You may look at some of my other posts to find links to RSOs and study abroad. Good luck!
