udub student orientation

Is student orientation fun? I've heard about other orientations having dances and other fun activities. I think I have a special business orientation since I was a direct admit to the business school on July 25th.

No probably not much fun - pretty much strictly need-to-know stuff, meeting with advisor, registering for classes. The ‘fun’ new student welcome is in the fall - I seem to remember it being called ‘Dawg Days’ or something like that. When you get your materials at orientation, there’ll probably be a calendar/planner with all these things in it.

I was anticipating it to be fun but it turned out to be a drag. Most of the time you are sitting through presentations or walking from one place to another. However, I think a major reason why it was a bore for me was because I have been to the UW countless of times since I live near there and my sister is also a recent UW alumni, so I knew the campus very well.

I felt that the first day of orientation did not have to take 9 hours. They repeat some of the stuff in day two so it was completely useless. But make sure to socialize with new people. I tried to make some new friends, but I made a bad decision on going to the same orientation date as my friends so I hung out with them most of the time because we had the same orientation leaders.
