Its like waiting to be asked to prom…and the invite finally comes three days before the dance. While the decision may be favorable, the timing is difficult.
@CrazyDad9 They sent me my code last night and I was able to log into GatorLink and submit my tuition deposit, now its just the long To-Do list for everything else regarding the transition (housing, medical records, preview, etc).
@proudparent2020 @GoGatorGirl @Emilykuts They said if you have not been contacted about the decision by mid-april to contact them and call so I would be looking into that within a week or so.
@Gator88NE @CrazyDad9 The dates for preview are available once you are able to sign into GatorLink and register for preview on the website. There are 3 date options, I can’t remember them off the top of my head right now.
For anyone who’s interested (&/or still worrying like myself lol), I emailed FreshmanAppeal@admissions.ufl.edu earlier & just received a response telling me that the Student Admissions Committee’s appeal decisions should be received via mail by April 27th. So there’ll hopefully be no issues for anybody re: the closely-approaching deadlines for orientation registration, tuition deposit, housing stuff, medical records, etc., whether it be at UF (if appeals are approved) or elsewhere (if they’re unfortunately not approved).
I have been checking & all I see still is the Feb 9th denial unfortunately…I am going to look into calling them soon! I really am hoping for something good to come out of this!! Thank you for the feedback everyone.
@Browneyez3 thanks. We got the code last night as well. Also had a fantastic Florida Days today. With everything happening so fast my son felt a little unsure about UF. But after spending the day on campus and meeting some people he’s 100% Gator now.
For what it’s worth we sincerely wish the best of luck all still waiting to hear. We know how hard that is.
My daughter got her letter today, and she was not offered admission. It was a good learning experience for her and we are happy to report she has three other school options. Best of luck to all!
Just received my letter & my appeal was sadly not approved, but I’m very much looking forward to encouraging Gators to Fear the Spear. And good luck to all still waiting to find out!!
How long did it take for you to get a response for your appeals? I got an email saying it was referred on March 23rd and haven’t heard anything since. In the meantime I applied and got admitted to FSU…any idea how much longer I should wait? Should I call the school and make sure my application hasn’t gotten lost?
Just got my letter today and I was APPROVED!! Go gators!!
My son submitted his appeal on March 13 and we still haven’t heard anything.
Oh gosh, I’m so sorry! I’m a senior in high school in Fort Lauderdale who initially got rejected to UF for Summer 2018. I requested my appeal as soon as I could (first four days of April) and, surprisingly enough, submitted my actual appeal at 12:01 am on the final day. No, you didn’t misread that, I turned it in not a minute after the deadline, but 23 hours, 59 minutes before the deadline. I wanted everything to be in technically a day earlier. So I technically submitted my appeal on 3/30. It took until 4/23 for me to get my response back, and I got accepted! I’m so sorry you’re going through so much anxiety worrying about the decision. Just remember it’ll be okay! Just persevere! It’ll come in time!
Still nothing from UF (submitted appeal March 13). The instructions said that the appeals would be considered in the order they were received, but that doesn’t appear to be the case in our situation. My son called two weeks ago and confirmed they received the appeal. They said he would hear the following week, but that was last week. The May 1 deadline for him to pick a school is next Tuesday. I am just wondering what the hold up could be. Of course, hoping for a positive outcome, but would like to hear either way. It would seem if it was an easy “no” then they would have said that already. Is anyone else still waiting to hear their results?
We are in the same boat, our son still hasn’t heard. I just checked the mail and nothing. It has been so stressful and he is to the point where he just wants to know where he will be going to school. He has been accepted to FSU and UCF so he does have options, but his brother is at UF. We just don’t understand why they can’t change the online decision now. We have called and so did the high school guidance dept. We were all told that all of the appeals were finished this past Wednesday and that the letters were mailed yesterday. We were also told that chances are slim to none that the answer will be yes except in the case of some sort of illness ??? Lastly, he will find out when the US mail delivers the letters and the online notification will take even longer than the mail. It looks as though we are going to have to make the non refundable tuition deposits just to be safe. Good luck! You are not alone!
@gatordad5 and @floridaboys3 Have you been checking the portal regularly? My son’s portal was updated a few days before we received the letter. Even though they said it would happen the other way around. Supposedly, they review appeals on Wednesdays. His portal was updated Monday,on the late afternoon.
My son checked last week. He’s been pretty quiet about the process, I think because he doesn’t want to get his hopes up. I haven’t said a lot to him about it because I don’t want to get him anxious. My wife and I are a wreck! He does have a great option with FSU, but we are all Gators so that is his first choice.
Yes he has but thank you for the info. He will keep checking I am sure. I wish they would take that Feb. Letter down, UGH! He has to keep revisiting that. Thanks again, have a great weekend.
Nothing in the mail again today for us. One question for anyone out there: If the appeal is denied, is that decision updated on the web portal as well, or does it just continue to show the February 9 rejection?
@floridaboys3 and @gatordad5 I know exactly how you feel. It was a roller coaster couple of months after the rejection and then waiting for the appeal decision. Like you, I think that my son was more calm about it then my wife and I. I hated seeing the Feb 9 letter each time we checked the portal too. When it was updated, we clicked reload about 6 times to make sure it was not a mistake… Feel for you guys, I know it is really hard.
Just got the mail and NOTHING from UF
