what does pre-prof mean??

@Csaltiel

Pre-prof stands for “Pre-Professional”

It is a GPA that is calculated from a specific set of courses for each major. The only one I am vaguely familiar with is Poli-Sci. It is 4 classes that they look at to calculate your “pre-prof. GPA.” I don’t know what they are. I think Comparative Politics, International Relations, American Government, and something else.

I also believe, though I am not 100% sure, is that not all majors have a pre-prof. I am applying for Physics, and not once has an advisor said anything about a pre-prof. GPA. So either I missed something, or not all majors have one.

And finally, the Pre-prof. has a pretty big influence on your chances of getting in.

I hope that helps clarify.

wow make me feel even worse! hahahaha.

and I have no clue what a pre-prof is either!

Pre-professional.

If you are going into health, law, etc., then it is the gpa of classes required for your professional school.

If not, I think it means the gpa for the classes required for your major.

oh okay. Well im not really planning on getting in with my GPA like it is. Im taking 6 classes this summer to get to UF (if they want me there) but if not im gonna finish up in the fall and reapply for the spring when my GPA is a tab but higher than a 3.42.

i been stressing out lately…

im attending to USF for electrical engineering and plan to transfer to UF. i decided to major in “agr engineering” since its not as popular. but i just remember there was an agreement at USF when i took electrical engineering. I think my chances of not getting is 99%.

do you guy think i should attempt to apply for the summer?

btw i applied on march 1… the online status changes to “once average gpa is calculated your eligiblity will be comfirmed and your app will be sent to your college for final decision”

did anyone had the same change??

hello all,

I just recently am able to log on to my gatorlink, does this mean I was accepted? On my status page it has not said anything new.

“I just recently am able to log on to my gatorlink, does this mean I was accepted? On my status page it has not said anything new.”

No this doesn’t mean anything. You should have been able to log in with your gatorlink ever since you applied. You will only know that you have been accepted when your application status changes to “Congratulations!!!”.

I don’t really understand what you’re saying. I’m sure that it is too late to apply to a summer term for 2010. The deadline for the fall term (later than summer, obv) was MArch 1st.

oh ok, thank you for the clarifications

Just got word, one of my friends just got his acceptance. Still no word on me though.

congrats to your friend…hoping we get a decision this week…i cant go another weekend waiting

any kids get accepted into CLAS yet? Economics preferably?

why cant they just accept everyone already!

Soooo, say you just got accepted into an honor soceity, is there anyway you can add that information into you application by making a call?haha

I was rejected, I am considering appealing.

I am not surprised, my GPA was not that great.

what college did you apply to? when did you find out?

I was Accepted! yayy. Now i dont know if i should go to FSU or UF :/
