Hello, my question today is to appeal UF's decision and to ask if my information would be strong enough to encourage admission. I was denied acceptance into the University of Florida for Summer B. I have outstanding, EC's- Spanish Honor Society- Cross Country and track varsity runner- I have volunteered all over my community, Photoshop certified and school, county and state science fair champion in the microbiology division for cellular respiration. My GPA is a 3.6 (I know it is low, but I had done horrible in my freshman year and my parents couldnt afford to take me to the school and I was finding a part time job, I was enrolled in the IB program). I have a 24 on my ACT- still, I know it is low, but I have not been able to afford to take any other tests, I have to pay for everything school related myself. I thought my essay for the application was good, and even asked teachers at my school for their opinion and they all gave their approval. I was wondering if my appeals will be strong enough for acceptance, I have met Mrs. Obama, Cross Country Runner of the Year for my school, I am patening an hydroelectric power/ cellular respiration and bioengineering plans. I have 8 AP courses and I am great in all of them, I can remerber all of the materials for one subject, but I stink at standardization. I am currently enrolled in ten courses and I am in the Top 11%, I am working towards being in the top 10% ( I am soo close!! :D ). Do I have enough information in order to appeal the acceptance from the University of Florida admissions officers?

It never hurts to try, if you really want to go to UF then you have nothing to lose by applying for an appeal. But as you probably know its very rare/difficult to get UF to appeal their decision. You have pretty good EC updates but unfortunately your ACT is kind of low and I think it’s too late to take it again and submit it to them. But like I said it doesn’t hurt to try.

Thank you so much for your opinion :D

tryingforUF - It is their loss. You are going to be successful wherever you attend college. In fact, you would probably rise to the top even if you didn’t attend college. Go to a school you are accepted to because you will obviously make the best of it. Everything happens for a reason.

Best of luck.

Hmmmmm Fake or fiction? Patent - Hydroelectric power/cellular respiration patent? Two seperate things with either one likely good enough to make your app stand out? Cross country runner of the year should be good enough for an athletic scholarship somewhere? Currently enrolled in 10 courses - why? All does not smell or read right. I think admissions concluded the same. BTW if you have a great new patent design, then go to a department head and show him/her your design and explain it. He/she has the power to get your app special consideration.

Thank you so much for your answer’s to my question. :D
