I'll be applying to colleges soon and the University of Florida is my top choice.

My academic GPA is a 4.1 and I've always taken AP and honors classes since freshman year.

My ACT is a 27 with a 31 on english, 24 math, 29 reading, and a 25 science.

I am 7/225 in my class.

I am also treasurer of National Honor Society and Interact, as well as a member of the newspaper and ecology club.
What are my chances?
:)

Wow! I’m going to be applying to UF also on August 1st (it’s my top choce, too!) and you and I have very similar stats! My unweighted GPA is a 3.2, but my weighted is a 4.32. My most recent ACT score was a 27 composite, with a 34 on English, 31 on Reading, 25 on Math, and 21 for Science (got a 32 on the essay, I believe). I am really only involved in Yearbook and National Honor Society, because most of my time is devoted to my job (I work part-time at a law firm) and the college that I attend (I have been a “Dual Enrollment” student since my freshman year of high school and will be graduating with my Associate of Arts degree in May).

I actually toured UF a few weeks ago and they are pretty tough, but I think we both will have pretty good chances to get in there, based on the info you’ve given. Their incoming freshman ACT scores are usually between 24-28, roughly. They, of course, expect stellar GPA’s. A big part of their decision is based on whether or not you took on a rigorous course-load during your high school career, and it seems that you did. They also REALLY consider the essay that you write, so work extra hard on that. In addition, put in your application early (that’s why I’m putting my in the first day that we can) because it’s first-come, first-serve for housing, and the sooner you apply for the college and get accepted, the sooner you can secure your spot in a residence hall.

I think you definitely have a pretty good chance, and hopefully we both get accepted! If you need any more help, I know quite a bit about UF, so just send me a message or response here and I can try to help. :)

wow, we are really similar!! Did you take the SAT and are you sending it to them? I only got a 1740 on it so I’m not sure I should bother sending it… do you know if UF cares more about the SAT?

UF doesn’t care which one you take, as long as you took one of them and scored well on it. I didn’t take the SAT at all. lol. I’ve had too much luck with the ACT. I’m pretty sure I’d tank the SAT, badly. xD You could send both, though, if you want. :)
