How did UF notify you about your daughter getting into Pre-Health program? was it through gatorlink email?
I got mine through my personal email (the email I gave to UF on my application)
@imanervous -My son is a freshman at UF in the Engineering program. My concern was with him going into the Engineering field that it would be dominantly men and he would not meet many women. Well, to my surprise. . . he has more women engineering friends than men. UF has a lot of women in their Engineering program. I think this was a concerted effort on UF’s part.
@JDGatorfan -Have you looked into housing options for Santa Fe students? Where do most SF students live? Is there a LLC for GE@SF students? My son is also considering GE@SF.
@collegemom2211 The GE@SF students who live on campus at UF will be housed together, most likely in Lakeside Residence Hall.
@SantaFeAVP How can we get information about the opportunity to live on UF Campus? We have reservations to attend the information session @ SF March 2nd. I really hope they sell it well. . we really want our son to choose GE@SF.
@collegemom2211 They will certainly have information about housing at the March 2 event. You may also reach out to th they will certainly have information about housing at the March 2 event. You may also reach out to UF’s GE@SF Advisor, Jennifer Gove-Cooper. I hope your son chooses SF, too!
@CollegeMom2211 We were told that they have set aside a number of beds (about 46) at Lakeside that will be allotted based on deposit date - we put her’s down in November. We are very anxious about this as well. My daughter accepted her invitation (she’s all-in on UF) and we will be at the orientation next week as well. Everyone i have spoken to at UF and SF has been amazing so I recommend reaching out.
I don’t think there is a specific LLC. This is the first year that GE@SF freshman kids will live on UF campus.
@CollegeMom2211 Last year, 24% of all engineering BS degrees were awarded to women. Nationally, the average is 20%. Popular majors are Industrial (which is my daughters major), Environmental Engineering and biomedical.
Of course, UF is a large comprehensive university, and the overall undergraduate ratio is closer to 55% women, 45% men.
Does anyone on here know someone at UF or maybe attended themselves? I visited last week and liked the campus, but couldn’t help but feel that it was missing something. I didn’t go out, only did the campus tour. so basically I’m wondering what the social life is like. I didn’t see much of a town, only that one street where the restaurant “the swamp” is. if someone could help me out that would be much appreciated!
It’s been 2 weeks (and a day, to be exact) since decisions. When are the kids getting their envelopes??

@Mcjc626 have not heard about scholarships yet. Oos here. Hoping for some merit.
@Mcjcs626 yes D OOS received email with scholarship Friday
@mom2nnd can you share your D’s stats? thanks
@Mcjc626 1480 SAT, 4.232 W GPA (10 APs, honors- not sure what her recalc UF GPA is), all As throughout high school, lots of EC’s with leadership, volunteer and paid work.
Alunmi Scholarship (32K over 4 years)
DD Gator nation scholarship. OOS ACT36 (not super scored) gpa wt 4.71 not converted to UF gpa lots of awards local, state and national. Still high on her list but more expensive than other options at present.
@FoxWarrior Congrats! Honestly that scholarship was the only one that would have made UF affordable for me. Every other college I was accepted to will cost at least $30000 less (per year) than UF. Can’t do it.
@Rubix1 we are in a similar situation. Our state flagship is much less. Still awaiting on most apps for DD to make a final decision. What other schools are on your list if you don’t mind me asking?
