So, does UF frequently give OOS in-State tuition waivers; as permitted by FL law?

Has anyone received a presidential scholarship or know if they have all been released?

@nhpm510 I think last year UF gave out 48 OOS scholarships that are tuition waivers (according to info from a link someone posted a while ago), and the UF website indicates that there are a limited number of OOS scholarships given http://www.admissions.ufl.edu/afford/scholarships , so I would say the answer to your question is No, they don’t give out a lot of OOS scholarships.

We spoke with admissions today and they already notified all merit recipients including oos waivers, so if you did not get an email by now, you won’t. S admitted but did not receive any merit with 1500 SAT, 4.2w, 14 AP, athlete. Now we are waiting to see if he wants UF or UM who gave him considerable merit. Note that financial aid packages will not be out until the end of the month, likely after housing sign up deadline of 3/20.

@GADawg24 That is so unfortunate. I am in the same boat receiving considerable merit aid from UM and nothing from UF. I am also confused as to why they would be sending out financial aid after the housing deadline because many people won’t know if they can even afford the school and I’m sure a full refund of the housing deposit won’t happen. I am so disappointed.

Just to clarify, Elon is a private university and there is no out of state tuition.

@GADawg24 UF admissions told you that financial aid will not come out until the end of the month? How do you figure this?

I read a few days ago that Financial Aid would come out in the “next 2 weeks”, which would put it right around the 20th (when housing deposits are due). Sure would be nice to know in time to know if UF is viable for us out-of-staters.

I wish they didn’t have to wait so long, the timing between housing deposits and FA release is extremely inconvenient.

Ia anyone going to Gator days tomorrow morning? We didn’t receive the email with details regarding parking, etc., but are confirmed attendees.

Sorry, I meant “Florida Days” not “Gator Days”.

Here is some info from my D"s email:

Shuttle Buses will transport visitors to and from the J. Wayne Reitz Union from 7:30am to 4pm. It is important to note that there is no parking available at the Reitz Union on the day of the event. Parking for this event will be at the Center for the Performing Arts. A parking permit will be required to park. Please download and print the parking pass for the date of your event here.

If you plan on going for a walk after the program, we recommend that you bring a hat or sunscreen. It often rains on campus in the afternoon; bringing an umbrella or raincoat is advisable.

Event registration (check-in) starts at 8am at the Reitz Union North Lawn Terrace. Campus maps and schedules will be provided at check-in; however, we encourage you to download the Gatorway App at guidebook.com/app/gatorway. The event will end around noon for lunch. A light breakfast and lunch voucher will be provided to participants. The event involves a morning resource fair from 8am-8:45am and 4 break-out sessions from 9:15am-12:00pm.

I just got my fourth e-mail reminding me to finish the housinf agreement. Why would I want to commit to anything without knowing what financial aid I’ll receive? Financial aid is the biggest part of my decision, if it doesn’t come out before housing agreements are due then UF is out for me.

@annabanabelle I emailed an admissions officer about financial aid packages and all he said was that is will come out “sometime this month”. :frowning:

Yes, admissions said end of the month.

@ErickCGT @GADawg24

I swear I read early April somewhere. I hope they come out soon.

annabanabelle, if you are a first generation student, you could apply for “Machen Florida Opportunity Scholarship” in order to have the chance to get the full rideb at UF.
You should receive an email saying you qualify and the invitation to apply.
Only accepted students with the status of first generation will receive that email.
