Unfortunately haven’t gotten any e-mails about this, just triple-checked. I’ll call admissions. I applied for IA and was told multiple times that IA students do not miss out on any opportunities that regular students have, but the more I look at it the more I realize they do. I hope me applying for IA didn’t lose my chance at a full-ride.
@GatorDad305 where is new rec center?
@GatormarriedNole The southwest rec center? It’s over by the Harn Museum. That’s also where the “park and ride” folks park, and then catch the bus (that runs every few minutes) to campus. Most students living off campus can only get “park and ride” decals.

@Gator88NE SW rec opened up when I was there in like 1994 or something that’s not new or is my memory fading.
@GatormarriedNole I think UF still only has two rec centers, with that one being the “newest” (it open in 2001, the other one open in 1991).
Then again, I still call Turlington Hall, “GPA”…so what do I know?
@Gator88NE it definitely opened in 1994 I confirmed it online. Maybe you mean the Broward rec area opened in 2001 which is just fields. No biggie I’m just surprised there isn’t a third gym.
@GatormarriedNole Yep, you’re right, it’s 1994. ^:)^
2001 was the year it went through it’s last major renovation.
I don’t know if UF really need a new rec center. SW rec is huge and has plenty of parking (keeping in mind most students live off campus). Space is at a premium in the center of campus. Last year they completed the renovations to Newell Hall, making it a study “environment”. There really wasn’t enough study space in the libraries, so this building was greatly needed.

Seems this generation of kids spend a lot more time studying in the library, than we did.
how do you view financial aid rewards?
Yeah, where can we see financial aid?
If you go to your ONE.UF portal (google search for UF portal should bring it up if you don’t know where to find it) and when you long in, in the top left corner, you can bring up a search bar (click on the three lines, then the magnifying glass). If you search for financial aid, it will bring it up several links, and the first one (at least it was first for me) lets you see all the information :-). Hope that helps some!
Went to the Long Island UF Admitted Students session last night. They did a really nice job. I was hoping we’d see at least one family we knew. Any Long Islanders attending UF?
@H0llyw00d we went as well last night. We are going to see UF this weekend and then can really have a discussion about attending.
So I’m OOS & accepted to UF but confused about my financial aid? It doesn’t say I got any merit but gave me the typical loans (fed sub & unsub, PLUS). However it says est. cost of attendance is 59,000 but when I go on the “shopping sheet” it’s only 43,000. Where’s the extra 16,000 coming from does anyone know?
@megd24 I believe they include a summer session in the 59k number if I recall correctly.
@megd24 the extra 16,000 is the summer session. D also OOS and got the same number 59K, I was shocked when I saw it but then looked and saw they added summer into total cost of attendance.
How do you decline an offer of admission for UF? Is there a link somewhere on the application status page or do you send the Office of Admission an email?
@Mom2NND okay thank you! haha yeah I was also very shocked… I don’t know anything about UF summer session tbh. Are they required or are they just showing an example of how much they would cost?
@megd24 A total of 9 credit hours must be taken during the summer sessions for all undergraduates, but not all 9 are required to be taken in the same year. The idea is to utilize the school buildings better and to help kids graduate on time. Fortunately, you can do it anyway you like…3 credit hours each summer, or you can do all 9 in one summer semester and be done, for example. Because of this, UF offers a great selection of classes during the summer. My son is currently planning how to do his. He thinks it’s best to do all 9 at once since we are OOS.
