I have been accepted into the university of south florida, the university of central florida and florida state and am awaiting an answer from the university of florida but I have a 3.5 and a 26 on the act so it is 50/50 on that school. I want to become an OB/GYN so I most likely going into biology pre med. Which school has the best progam ? Plus I attend an arts school and would like to continue dancing on a school dance team. Which school has a good dance team ? I am also very christian and would like a city that is not all bars and clubs but is still lively and fast paced with nice churches. I am also black and would like to join the AKA sorority and be surrounded by my fellow brown skinned people. Which school do you think is the best for me ??? I cannot tell you how much I have been stressing over this and your opinions would help me out alot.

Any good school with good bio, chem, physics, and math classes can prepare you for med school.

If any of these schools will require you to take out a bunch of student loans, I’d cross them off your list. You’ll need to borrow a lot of money for med school, so you don’t want to run out of “borrowing power” before you’re done with med school. Having too much undergrad debt can cause some med schools not to accept you because they fear that you won’t be able to financially complete the med school program.

I don’t know what the best school is for you personally, but I can tell you how the schools are academically.

UF

FSU

UCF

USF

UF is the best out of the four.

I don’t think they all have AKA chapters so that might help you narrow it down a little. After that, just visit and pick the one you connect with the most. Although people like to debate it all the time, I don’t think there’s any real appreciable difference between these schools in terms of reaching your ultimate goals.

From your description of what you want in a city, it doesn’t sound like UF is for you. Tallahassee never struck me as a great place to live either, and so you might want to narrow it down to UCF or USF. Another plus about UCF and USF is that it will probably be easier to get A’s than it will at UF, which will be very important for med school. They are also both in big cities with lots of opportunities to volunteer (which I believe is also quite important for med school admissions).

Does UCF offer more diversity than the others? Also, since UCF has a med school, that may help you when it comes time to apply.

I would go with University of Florida.

If the student composition at the FSU College of Medicine is any guide:

What schools supplied the most students for the FSU Med Class of 2013?

UF: 36/120 students
FSU: 35/120
FAU: 6/120
U Miami: 6/120
UCF: 6/120
UWF: 4/120
USF: 3/120
SMU: 2/120
Auburn: 1/120
College of Charleston: 1/120
Eckerd College: 1/120
FAMU: 1/120
FIU: 1/120
FL Mem: 1/120
Haverford: 1/120
Johns Hopkins: 1/120
NCF: 1/120
Palm Beach Atlantic: 1/120
Pensacola Christian: 1/120
Penn State: 1/120

U Penn: 1/120

Florida State has a chapter of AKA: [Student Affairs Office of Greek Life](http://greeklife.fsu.edu/NPHC/akas.html) and apparently so does UF. FSU also has the Alpha chapter of Phi Beta Kappa. UF has Beta while UCF and USF do not have PBK chapters.

If I’m reading the previous reply correctly, the right choice for this OP is FSU or UF. True, they are both in college towns with a reputation for too much partying, but they probably both offer the best academic preparation for Med school from among the ones she is looking at. I assume that is a priority. I have no idea which institution is the most comfortable for a black Christian dance-interested student. Probably time to plan a visit.

Do you need aid. If so, which will give you the best aid

UF would probably be the best option because it’s simply the best school in Florida in most respects.

If you don’t get into UF, I think it’s between FSU and USF. Between the two, in this case I think USF edges out FSU. USF has the 2nd best public med school in Florida and is the most diverse school out of the universities you mentioned. FSU is still good choice too, because it’s got a nice atmosphere on campus and is generally well rated.

I don’t think UCF is as good of an option.

I don’t mean any offense, but I’m concerned that a pre-med student with a 26 on the ACt would have a harder time in pre-med classes at UF than at UCF. An ACT 26 is in the 84th percentile. I would be concerned that she’d be competing against too many other UF pre-med students who are in the 90th+ percentiles (ACT 28+). Her GPA could be negatively affected by that.

I personally never liked UF, but in terms of academic for you:

UF
USF/FSU
UCF

Because you want to go into biology/medicine, I would recommend against UCF despite me liking it most of the four. All four are schools leaning on the “party” side of things, so none really meet you’re need there, and I’m unaware of the sorority situation at all of them. Academically, the ranking above is probably best in regards to what you want to go in to, and it isn’t like UCF is horrible in this major either.

ummm…may be i’m stupid or something. But what exactly is a ■■■■■ in this case?
I have been enlightened about it by the Harry Potter, but not sure what it means here!
“well established ■■■■■”…

Well not the correct post to ask this question…but i was curious! Sorry.

In the context of this thread a ■■■■■ is anyone who does not think UF is the next best thing to sliced bread.

…cannot miss:

Which of the following schools has the most “well established ■■■■■■” in CC?

A. UF
B. FSU
C. UCF
D. USF
E. ABC

p2n…I’m kind of surprised that you would take this opportunity to jab UF. (un)intguy slammed FSU pretty hard…and, in fact, the entire public higher education system in Forida. And in indirectly, about 40+ other states that don’t have a public system that is as good.

Pheonix…■■■■■■ come to provoke members by posting endless negative comments with nothing constructive to add the OP’s question. It is a form of sport to them…we can only speculate what they are like in real life…but it is pretty easy to guess.
