Can someone please expound on the Honors program at UF? What are the benefits? What stats are necessary in order to get accepted? I heard its pretty easy to get in, am I being mistaken?

I was accepted into the program this year, so I can say a few things about it. I don’t know much about benefits, but I believe that you get better access to research opportunities, not to mention the ability to take classes with a small class size.

To get invited to the program, you need a 2070 on the SAT or a 33 on the ACT. If you don’t get invited, you can apply via lateral admission (I have some friends who did this and got into the program). If you have a high GPA and tough course load, you’ll probably get in.

thanks gatorboy

I have a quick question related to the honors program: Does anyone know when we register for our honors class? I was told in March that we would pick the honors class we wanted before registering for the rest of our classes, but I haven’t heard anything since…Any insight would be appreciated!!

i’d recommend searching for old threads about this. there should be some good information in them.

You’ll register for your honors class with the rest of your classes at preview.

^Thank you!

NP and just a reccomendation but you might want to look at Honors courses before hand so you have a rough idea of which ones your interested in, just because sometiems it takes a while before the lists with the honors courses get you as there was a limited amount for my session. Hope you have an awesome time at preview!! ^_^

The Honors Program at UF lets you presently
- room at Hume Hall with other honor students
- allows priority registration for honors courses
- has guidance counselors specifically for honors students (all 4 years)–one of the biggest plusses
- if you are a merit scholar (over honors) you will receive priority registration for classes
The honors program is an evolving program at the moment…
