Ok, so, I know the requirements. But after that...? That's where I need to be filled in. I've searched online and one source said they accepted 800 out of the applied 1300. Is this true? Also, something was said about additional essays? How hard is it to get in and what all do they look at it?

If you make the basic initial requirements in terms of GPA, ACT/SAT score cut-offs (these are given on the honors site), then you are asked to join the honors program. There is an additional essay that is required for that, and I believe another application. Last year when D joined the honors program, there were way more qualified students than they had space for … so yes, they do make another cut after you’ve been asked to join. I’ve heard that their might be changes coming in terms of what they are looking for in an “honors student,” I think trying to find those who want into the program not just soley for the better on campus housing situation, but I’m not sure how that’s being addressed. D took 2 honors courses last year and none this year. She’s technically already a junior in standing and she doesn’t have any gen eds left and none of the honors courses will work for her major, so she’s not completing the last 2 classes she needs for an honors certificate. She’s decided to do honors in her major instead.

A side question from me: I barely missed out on the requirements for the honors program because of test scores, but I am almost positive I will get into the university. Will not being in the program restrict me from anything that is important towards future successes? It doesn’t seem like a traditional honors program, so I am unsure.
