UF PACE / online classes

My son was accepted to UF via their PaCE program to start Fall 2019. I am starting to think that UF wants out of state tuition over instate as his overall picture is one that you can’t make up yet he achieved it and still did not get resident student. At any rate, here are my questions and hopefully I can get some real answers:

  1. If he elects a business major his only option via PaCE is “BABA General Business”. What is the difference is a BABA and a BSBA in general business?
  2. Can a PaCE student double Major?
  3. Can a PaCE student go the “Combined Degree” route?
  4. He currently has just shy of 40 DE hours so his time dedicated to online classes only will be short lived as he will be a Junior in short order. SO, what if he gets started at UF and decides that he wants to major is Management or Finance, can he complete the application to transfer majors out of PaCE? If so, if he does not get accepted will he be allowed to stay in PaCE or is he removed from PaCE just for trying to leave?
  5. Of the 7 “Tracking Courses” are any of these offered at Santa Fe either in the classroom or online? He would like to take a summer class since PaCE does not allow you to start until the Fall.
    Thank you

Good questions.

Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration (BABA) – General Studies major which pairs a UF business degree with an outside area of specialization offered by another UF department. See the following link for a long list of specializations.

https://warrington.ufl.edu/undergraduate-academics/general-studies/

You can think of the BSBA as 100% business classes, while the BABA is business classes + specialization. The most popular specializations are:
Pre-Law
Pre-Health
Foreign Languages
Mass Communication
Sport Management
Travel and Tourism Management

Other specializations include computer science, electrical engineering, international studies, etc. If you take 1 or 2 more courses, you can change a “specialization” into a “minor”. You could, for example, earn a minor in accounting, which is one way into the master’s of accounting program.

2.

Double major? Likely not, but check with UF. If the second major is also a PaCE major, they may allow it.

It’s very difficult to transfer into any other program in the College of Business (COB), other than BABA. In fact, a few years ago UF STOPPED accepting any transfer students into the COB. Then they created the BABA degree, and started to accept transfers students again into the college.

I would think all 7 classes are taught at SF.

With all the “offers” that went out to students to attend UF I am sure there are many that will consider their options and not attend as a “RESIDENT” student. Does that open up a spot for a PaCE freshman to fill the void and be a Resident student so that he/she will have access to every major that UF offers?

@GatorHog823, my understanding is that regardless of how many applicants decline their admission offer, Pace and Innovation Academy individuals will not be offered regular admission.

So there is no way to appeal your offer from PACE into the summer or fall admissions? Has anyone in the past been able to do this?
