Hi!
I know UF offers an appeal process to applicants denied admission. However, is there also an appeal process for those who are accepted to PACE to request admission to Summer B? I could not find anything on this on the UF website.
Thanks!!!
Hi!

I’m guessing it’s likely the same process. You where denied for Fall/Summer B admissions. Then offered PaCE. You’ll need to make the case that your applications needs to be reconsidered.

And your appeal will be based on?
First, I only asked if there is an “appeal process” for PACE-to-Summer-B, as I have not been able to find anything on the UF website. Second, if there is such an “appeal process”, I will then take a look at what the “appeal process” is. Third, after taking a look at what the “appeal process” is, I will then look at the criteria UF would be looking for in such an “appeal process” … and then I’ll get back to you!
I was accepted into UF as a PaCE student as well last year. PaCE is a new program (started 2 years ago), which is why it is so hard to find information about it. I tried many ways to get UF to change my decision but being accepted into PaCE means that you are accepted into UF, and therefore, not you are not allowed to appeal the decision. I even tried to request a “term change”, like how summer students wants to request to start in fall (but in this case from PaCE to summer or fall). That also didn’t work. Here is the email I got back.
“The Office of Admissions has received and reviewed your request for an admission program change. Unfortunately, due to space limitations, we are not able to accommodate any program changes from the Pathway to Campus Enrollment (PaCE) to the main campus program. Your admission continues to be to the PaCE program, which begins on August 22, 2016.”
If you want more information about PaCE, I suggest looking on Facebook PaCE Class of 2021. Lots of PaCE students and advisors are helping answer questions from new PaCE students.
@mwhuang … Thanks. After searching the UF website, searching this forum, talking to a UF admissions officer today, and reading a post from the UF representative (@UFOnline) on this forum, it is clear as day that there is no appeal process from PACE. Nor is there a “wait list” for moving from a PACE Admission to a Residential Admission. Basically … PACE is PACE … take it or leave it! Think I’ll take it!
@sixwhitehorses You should look more into it before deciding. PaCE is not meant for every major, nor for everyone. If You are planning to go into the pre-med track, I would advise against it since not all medical schools accept online credits. Also, not all majors are offered through PaCE, and it is not guaranteed you will be allowed to switch majors after transitioning as a normal student. Lastly, you have to be self motivated to complete online classes, which are, in some aspects, harder than traditional classes.
OP - what other schools have you been accepted at?
UF is my dream school, my “reach.” I am familiar with PACE: my major is offered through PACE; I have no issues with online classes, having taken quite a few in HS (could be why they offered me PACE :P); and, I have friends at UF admitted regularly who as Freshmen and Sophomores had to take many online classes anyway. The main academic differences between regular and PACE admissions are the number of majors offered (not an issue for me) and the number of online classes taken the first two years (some vs all). Anyone who goes to UF thinking they are not taking online classes is in for a rude awakening. I know a regular admission student who had a semester where all his classes were online except one. I know another regular admission student who in his Junior year still has some online classes. If you expect to take zero online classes, UF is not for you. Try a smaller school.
Why do PaCE when you could just go to community college for 2 years?
@Trisherella You can do both (CC and PaCE)
You can take classes at other schools (transient enrollment). In fact my DD14, who was a regular fall admit, last year took a class over the summer at our local CC, while working a summer job. There are rules around transient enrollment, so you need to get everything approved by your advisor, before taking any classes. At least 15 credits still need to be taken via UFOnline/PaCE. In other words, you can do some of your classes via CC (or one of the other public universities, like UNF or UCF) and take the rest via PaCE.
Transition to your major is automatic, as long as you’ve met the majors minimum requirements. You don’t go through the competitive CC transfer process. This is the main advantage to PaCE, and transfer admissions is also getting more competitive.
PaCE tuition cost are about the same as your local CC (and less than the normal UF, UCF, UNF, FSU, etc, tuition cost), and if you like online classes (some folks do), it’s more convenient. You are also a Gator, taking classes with other Gators who will also be transitioning to campus. These end up being future roommates.

EDIT: By the way, the classs my DD14 took at our local CC was an online class, it worked better with her schedule.
Because CC doesn’t guarantee admission to UF
@Trisherella “Why do PaCE when you could just go to community college for 2 years?”
(1) … With college credits accrued during high school, PACE can easily be only 3 semesters, with the required minimum being only 2 semesters … (2) … Satisfactory completion of PACE means guaranteed admission to regular. Not so with CC, which requires a full transfer application and attendant acceptances/rejections.
If you have been offered PaCE or admission into Santa Fe in a degree program, you
are considered admitted to UF. View the PDF link to the February GatorTales for a
more complete description of PaCE.
For PaCE students there is an “appeals” process for requesting regular admission
onto the UF campus. Contact freshman@ufl.edu and speak with a representative.
Indicate that you wish to be considered for full-time campus admission. You will be
notified by mail after May 1st if you have been reclassified. This may happen on a
“space available” basis (sort of like a waitlist)
.
Found this by serendipity–from March 2015 letter
NO idea if this is still active
@gouf78 That info is from 2015, two years ago. I don’t know if it was accurate then, but I do know it is not accurate today. As I commented above, after searching the UF website, searching this forum, talking to a UF admissions officer, and reading a post from the UF representative (@UFOnline) on this forum, it is clear that there is no appeal process from PACE. Nor is there a “wait list” for moving from a PACE Admission to a Residential Admission.
